As above looking to upgrade my current w211 e320cdi sport to a newer w212.

How do i tell the difference between the 265 and 231 bhp models when i view cars?

Sites like auto trader have the power outputs in the tech sections for the cars i assume this come up when you put the registration in?

But i have seen one on a local dealers forcourt when i asked him he said he didnt know so i ruled it out, buts it is the nicest one ive looked at.

The 265bhp engine came in sometime during 2010, the only sure way is to look at the registration doc

Think it was very late 2010 that it came in so there will be cross over cars on 60 and 11 plates, to be honest the 231 maps just as well as the 265 both ending up close to 300bhp and 700 torques,
Mines a 231 that’s been mapped already and I know buy the way it feels it’s not far off the above figures

Would info like that be on the log book? Though it would only be the engine cc weight etc

Had any issues with turbo actuators or inlet flaps on yours? I have the same engine in my w211 and both failed on me

I would look for the 265bhp car you will have the 7spd+ gearbox but better to check the build sheet, if you post the VIN on here a forum member will source that for you

Mine is a 265 one, first registered May 2011.
I might be wrong but i believe the 265 has the larger 80 ltr fuel tank

Look at the CO2 output on the docs. For example if you’re looking at sport models it goes like this.
    E350 231 - 186 grams 0-60 6.8
    E350 265 - 185 grams 0-60 6.9
    E350 265 7G+ - 168 grams 0-60 6.2

Sorry to budge in, but the 80 ltr tank was the only option on UK spec cars, so it is on the 231 as well.

    265 should be 7G+
    231 are 7G

Yes, but some would be the first gen, and newer ones will be 7G+. Faster shifting and better economy. Backed up by the CO2 numbers in my earlier post.

I thought as part of the engine upgrade they put the 7G+ gearbox in it as well

So did I at first, but then it was either on this forum or the other one I found a post with a diagram of the different variants of engine/box combinations.

Would not be able to find it if you ask me to though haha

Well ive found an easy enough way to tell.... kind of, the steering wheel in the 2011 cars is different and these all seem to be 265 (listed as 264)

And now ive seen the upated wheel with alloy trim i want it so its made life a little easier but purchase price has gone up

What’s your budget if you don’t mind me asking, and what equipment are you looking for?
