Door card came off easy enough on our A5 Audi, just make sure you use the right trim tools and levers, take your time and be patient. Very important to find a "how to" video first, but when you know how it's a 10 minute job. There is a knack and a technique to releasing the plastic poppers, but it can be done, I used a large jemmy I have, it provided just the right amount of leverage and support to the plastic so nothing broke.

230 SL is similar, lots of how to vids everywhere.

Well great news for me at least, MB have agreed to change my rusting pillar trim piece at no cost to me under the rust warranty.
I posted details earlier in this topic.
The part is coming in from Germany and they'll book it in as soon as it's arrived.
Thanks Submariner for the advise

Impressive, CowleyStJ - that's only taken a week to resolve. Getting a warranty claim sorted that quickly is great. How old is the car? I'm thinking, if it's 3 yrs old they have to take responsibility. if it's 10 yrs old...

Six years old, but full MB service history and Mobilo.
The service manager reckoned it's the MB service history that swung it, for some reason

That's what I was told. I was left feeling that they were doing me a massive favour, I suppose they were, but also, should a 5 year old £36k car have these issues?

Although the negotiations are uncomfortable, the warranty is being honoured. That's a credit to Mercedes Benz.

Yes.
The service manager has seen a few of these come thru, but some have been refused.
It appears they'll only honour the rust warranty with full MB service history.
Why should that matter though?

Who knows, maybe they feel a sense of responsibility because you have been paying for their service, also, shouldn't it come up as an advisory? Also, if there is any sign of external damage then it wouldn't be covered.

Excellent result, my car is 8 years old now but never missed a service spread between MB Milton Keynes and MB Northampton.
I have a small rust bubble on rear piece of trim , I might just run it passed them on next service.

I can confirm the W213 4 pot diesel is a most excellent car, great power and economy and I'd say a step change with the 9G box

i got the spare parts from mercedes (you can see the part numbers if you are interested) however when i unboxed one and held it up against where it's supposed to go, i can see the i probably have to remove the door inner card and more to fit it, does anyone with access to an EPC see if they can find fitting instructions for this part please ?
