Looking to replace my old W211 Estate and the 350 AMG Line I'm looking at (very good nick; reputable dealer) has different size tyres front and rear...
Front 245/40 and Rear 265/35

Is this normal??

Thanks

That would be correct for the sport option on standard 18"'s.

Happy hunting!

Yes as above that is correct the wheels on the Sport car are staggered 8.5in front and 9in rear and very easy to mix up so beware when having tyres changed

Hi everyone! Has anyone ever fitted 255/35 R19 tyres to the front end instead of 245/35 R19? The 245's seem to be very close to the edge of the rim and look like they could be done with a wider tyre. The rear tyres are wider (275) but they have more protrusion past the rim which would protect the rim better than the fronts will.

I'd be interested to know if anyone else has tried this already?

There will be one correct tyre size for that wheel size . Fit the wrong one = No insurance :(

I wouldnt bother personally, better spending your money having the diamond cut alloys powder coated, tyre protrusion another 5mm wont help you. And as Wighty says you may run into insurance issues

You'll also run into ABS/ESP issues due to the size mismatch between front and rear. Good decision not to do it.

Because 35% of 255mm (profile) is greater than 35% of 245mm... so as LK says you'd end up with a weird circumference mismatch.

Thanks for the enlightenent! It didn't click to me that the outside diameter of the 255 would be larger, I was only asuming that the width would be slightly more. It all makes sense to me now, thanks for all of your comments and advice.

I must confess, I've joined quite a few forums over the years when I've owned different types of cars. I'd say this one so far has been by far the most helpful I've joined yet with so many quick responses to my question, and I only joined up yesterday! It's looking like there's a fantastic core group of members who are genuinely keen to assist others who need help.

Keep up up the good work guys it's much appreciated!:)
