Hi All

MY S320 CDI is throwing up this error at the moment and is running with reduced power and epc power control error on dash board.

So far I have replaced the sensor with two different ones, one bosch and one from merc.. Still same error..

I've had it hooked up on star and indie couldn't find anything wrong.. Same error. He tried clearing the codes and reseting it but couldn't perform full scan as needed to be cold.. I'm unable to clear the error with my icarsoft scanner. Error Communicating with the cdi ecu... Even though it can read the errors Ok..

It appears to be an electrical issue as the error can occur before you start the engine..I've checked the plug and I'm seeing the 5v on one of the pins so power is getting to the sensor.

Anyone got any ideas?

TIA

Regards
Alistair.

Just because the sensor has flagged doesn’t mean the sensor is the cause.

If it has a blocked exhaust it will flag this fault code for example. Have you checked all of it’s wiring from the ECU to the sensor?

There should be a guided fault finding process on star..

Problem solved... Initial investigations lead me to the wrong sensor.. Finally found the b60. Component sensor behind the EGR valve..

Tried cleaning..
Same error..
Checked wiring...
Same error..
Replaced sensor...
Error gone..
First merc..
Lots learnt..

All Sorted... Car back to normal..

I also find that the iCarsoft scanner I have won't connect to a particular module when the buildyear is near the changeover from (for example) a 202 / 203 / 204 or 208 / 209. Sometimes you can get the reading by going backwards or forwards a model and reading the module fitted to the previous / next model on the list.

Yes it still won't communicate with the cdi3 module but only when u are trying to clear the codes.. It can read the codes and read live data.. I've just updated mine to latest firmware and can see it's updated to recording feature now.. Yet to try it on the car though..
