In an Sclass you can get it out of park by pulling hard on the gear stick and tapping it sharply on top with a rubber or wooden mallet or similar.

Not this one, later type of selector used.

here's my coms issue

battery symbol warning on dash

esp inoperative warning on dash

drive to workshop without changing gear warning on dash

runflat indicator inoperative warning on dash.

the electronic transmission control and cdi are not linking to the diagnostic gateway

possible cause voltage supply to the control modules

fuses look ok i'll check again
a bit worried that the aa mans voltage pack may have damaged a sam ???

It will be a connector in the loom somewhere, or a CAN block.

Commiserations for your bad luck OP, hope it turns around soon! I've a W222 under warranty thank goodness, but in 3 years time when that runs out I'm going to be a little worried, given the system complexity if something drastic breaks like yours. All the best and hope you have both your cars back healthy, really soon.

Well the ism was collected by dhl and is off to Bulgaria .

It was making some nasty noises and if i had to guess i woud say the something has stripped or snapped inside

Apparently it will return as a 'Virginised' unit . Not too sure what that means but have already been sent the procedure to re install it on my non scn capable star .

must say softelectronic seem well up to speed
so fingers crossed .

ill keep you all posted .

I don't get it, it would have been easier and quicker to buy a new one, not that expansive from mb (£253 +vat). If it's Virginised you will still have to scn it and assign to your vehicle.

mb quoted .........

270 odd Plus vat exchange unit so probably a recon unit and all the documentation hassle of a trp.

double that for a non exchange and the documentation thing

and then scn coding on top . Dunno how much that costs , but i'm a captive audience when i'm there .

As for quicker , mb said minimum of 1week as all the units come from Germany so it's not a fast process whichever way

You pro's will have done these before and may have some tricks up your sleeves , but it seems pretty unavoidable to have to drop the gear box to gain access to the mounting screws on the ism .One of them needed a little extra help and there is just no room

i needed to put a torque converter in any way ,so 2 birds and all that .

the firm say i shouldn't need scn coding so not sure what they mean by virginised .
they have e mailed some installation instructions

maybe i chose wrong ?...........we'll see ..........done now .

Ism is back .

my star still wont communicate with cdi or transmission .

re transmission
it gave me a test for supply power at the transmission control module and power seems ok it's then pointing towards new tcm

i thought i'd found this x30 /30 power distribution block but not so sure now

re cdi
it gave me a test for 3 fuses 21 /23 /24 at drivers side sam/fuse box

all have low voltage

really struggling to understand this now
