Definitely this. I shorted a metal watch strap across a battery once - it got very hot very quickly.....(and was a sod to get off quickly!)
Spanner handle across the terminals of a Series III is a known owners problem ;)

Well, its now off:

What a nightmare. Had to weld a E12 to a 16mm ratchet spanner to get the last mount bolt off.
Then one of the three torx bolts holding the plate on rounded off!!!!

I had to remove the wastegate actuator and then die grind the head of the bolt off.

Now to find a replacement O ring and deal with the whole lot again!

What is the worst that can happen :)

All done today. New thicker O-ring installed and no more leaks. I had to replace the bolt I destroyed.

I also replaced that troublesome mount bolt with a stud into the engine block and a 14mm nut, much easier to get on with an offset spanner.

Now to cleaning my driveway!

well sorted, dont let the b grind you down ,hope thats the end of it. these days it seems like one always ends up cutting or welding a tool to get around various issues, clever design eh. i have a grand collection of modified tools from when i changed all my w168 pulleys and belt sometime ago.

Many years ago onboard ship the company had removed electricians to save money so on Saturday's the second engineer would go round the ship and check all the lamps, we had an engine cadet so he took him along.
Found a standard 220v screw in bulb and told the cadet to change it, when he came back the cadet had broken the glass and was getting shocks as he tried to remove the rest of the bulb, he asked the cadet why he had not turned off the power and the cadet replied he would not be able to see what he was doing!

Whoops bit late posting the above, must admire the hard work involved and job well done.

Indeed, my drawer is full of those tools, only to be ever used once!

Right so whilst the original torrential leak has been fixed, it has made it evident that there is another, smaller leak nearly.

This is the same picture as before, but now I have no oil, on the pressed metal plate and some oil on the Etorx bolt that holds the oil cooler pipe on, so suspect the oil cooler pipe O ring is leaking.....
