The B service is basically: Oil change + filter, Fuel filter, Brake fluid change, Adblue top-up. + various checks.

According to the MB schedule, the gearbox oil should be changed once at 40000 miles, but i will have mine done on a regular basis.

For my last B service, I paid about £440, but that's over here in France.

Is that specific to the S class as on most models the brake fluid change is recommended at 2 year intervals and not included in the price of a B service, and fuel and air filter is every 4 years. Bluetec models may be different though.

Prices vary considerably at MB dealers so I suggest you look on the MB website under owners area-book a service.

Gearbox service on that model will either have been done at 37,500miles OR 75,000 miles . They are only done once by MB but most owners here would probably agree to do it every 40k provided you intend to keep it long term .

That is taken from the Service book for a 221 350 bluetec 2011. The fluid change is, as you say, billed sepately.

thanks very much for all reply

i check merc website and in my merc dealership "service b" cost approx £474 and im confused a bit
i read full list of work undertaken by service b and looks like is only:
-oil and filter
-break fluid replacement
-new charcoal dust filter

rest is just normal checks which mostly i do myself bulbs etc

what is your opinion is really worth £474 or is better do that at indy for part of this price?

if so is possible to reset service indicator without STAR ?

second question about gearbox according to service record fluid was replaced in my car by merc in 2015 at milage 45k as you mentioned above if i understand it right it should be done just once in car lifetime?
or is better to do that every 45k miles? on merc website i don't see option to book fluid change
so what is your opinion replace it or leave it as it is (once changed in past)

thanks again for your time

It looks expensive to be but that is where MB is going with prices . Maybe you should look for an Independent Merc specialist who can improve the service cost .
About the gearbox , I would change it but that's because I do mine every 40k miles . New gearbox £4000+ , gearbox ATF change £250 o_O

thanks for reply i make some calls tomorrow to compare local indy i found some recommendation on forum

about gearbox is not about saving of £250 is more about what is better
some car brand don't recommend fluid replacement at all, some recommend regular

Over 10 years ago MB didn't recommend it at all , now they have all realised it makes sense . I would guess MB have decided that doing one change will get past 100k miles without any problems so they then want you to buy a new car anyway .
A lot of other can manufacturers now all have gearbox fluid changes added to their service requirements .
