W221 2007 S320L CDI
Hey guys,

Recently became a proud owner of a 2007 W221 S320L CDI. Having come from an E60 BMW, one feature that really helped when parking was the passenger side mirror would tilt when reverse gear was selected.

Although the S class does have a reverse camera, the mirror tilt feature really does help when parking by a kerb to avoid damaging the wheels.

Could anyone please advise whether the S comes with this feature but just needs to be 'activated'? Thank you.

The W220 does have this feature but do not know about the W221, if it has will be found in the mirror menu.

Thanks for the response Paul1948. I have looked through all the command options and can't find anything to do with tilting. I can only see convenience folding side mirrors when locking the vehicle. A google search shows that it may be an option on the command system but vehicle in question was the face-lift W221 (S350 CDI)? I'll wait to see if anyone else has any input on the W221.

I thought a tilting mirror was part of having memory settings on the mirrors.

On my SL500 the tilt only works when the passenger mirror is selected on the mirror controls.

This might be the reason? I have electric heated seats but I don't have the memory 123. Perhaps the tilting mirrors only came with that option?

I have tried selecting the passenger mirror before going into reverse but still no luck :(

While in reverse gear try adjusting the nearside mirror to th2s required position. When you change to drive it should reset to the normal position.

Yes it does, mirror adjustment selection needs to be on passenger side for it to work.

If it does nothing, then adjust the mirror to the position you want when in reverse, it will remember it next time.

in the manual for the 221 it describes how you set up the tilt (page264).... the amount is user selectable

never bothered to try on mine

I get that the memory is a part, as that's how u set it.... it will only work

1) "...if you have previously stored the parking position for the exterior mirror on the front-passenger side using the memory function (see page 267)"

2) "make sure that the "Lower mirror when reversing" function is switched on in the exterior mirror convenience submenu of COMAND"

That's correct - dipping passenger mirror is only active with memory seats.
