I've been toying with the idea of getting one of these. But was surprised how much they were, I had a 3 year quote of £2700. What I am doing anyway is saving each month just in case something goes wrong, but I know if it is major engine/gearbox it will be expensive.
Do many here have a pay monthly warranty and if so who did you go with?

I have just over this with what I saved in the purchase.

Then stick in in an ISA and don't bother with a warranty

Actually go to MSL then put the remaining money in the bank ;)

Even higher when you find out that 80% of repairs fall outside the warranty T&Cs!

Really? So I could pay £900 a year and still have a pay for garage prices?

They will find some way to wriggle out of paying
Ok, I never knew this. At least now I can afford to get it serviced next year!

Bit unkind - Mercedes Tier 1 is very comprehensive but equally expensive.
I paid an annual Tier 1 to extend my warranty, you can pay monthly automatic refresh but they sting you with what presumably is an interest charge, fairly hefty premium over cash for sure.
Undecided on next year
In your case I think I’d do as the guys say and stick some money aside as a self insurance- after all that’s all Warranty is anyway

Mercedes direct warranty better than aftermarket which in my opinion are a total waste of money.

Agreed- only one I think is comparable (and was more expensive than Mercedes!) was the one Quentin Wilson endorses, can’t remember the name off hand

Warranty Wise, my car came with WMS 5 star f.o.c. so can't complain but the small print is diabolical!

A wise decision for at least a couple of years IMO John. Your E63 going wrong could cost an arm and a leg, and better to have the insurance of a MB warranty until its value reduces and you feel comfortable having an indy do servicing and repairs.

I agree Roger, that was my thinking when I renewed last year and will almost certainly be this year!

If nothing goes wrong you still have the money.

Exactly and on a C350CDi there is not much that will, most things will be consumables like bushes that won't be covered

A few thing we're done including some turbo seals, but that might be a standard thing to do.

Turbo seals and intercooler seals go on them, the intercooler seals is a big job but again they are silicone so a warranty won't cover it.

Put the money in the bank for a rainy day

Agree with the above. I never extend the warranty beyond the original manufacturers, putting a bit to one side just in case. Having said that, I usually invalidate the warranty on my cars anyway so pointless really. :)
