Hi Malcolm,

Do you have anything on W208? Went out Thursday night in very heavy rain & found a steady stream running in to the passenger foot well. I can't se where it would come from under the bonet.

Many thanks,

Miles.

I am looking for the info on later cars.

Your air intake box in front of the screen will be blocked,,you must remove the grill and filter if fited and clear the drains

1999 clk 320 Cabriolet went to car wash today and after had water in my right side passenger at front where cowl meets floor. There is a cover at the base of the dash (horizontal) that has holes in it for ventalation and it has insulation on it and it was soaked. I unscrewed it and took it off and there is a black box the side of 10 by 8 inches that has a plug going in to it and 2 clips on it. I moved the clips and dropped it down and about 8 oz of water poured down. It looks like this has a motor that has a spinning rotor in it. I dried it all out and now have a fan on it. The water is definitely from the car wash because it had a red tint to it and smelled like the car wash soap. 1. how did the water get in. 2. do i have to worry about regular rain? 3 do you think this is a one time problem.
Would cleaning out the drain lines help in this situation and if so could you emial me them for my car at jpogara@comcast.net. Many thanks.

You problem is that the air intake box in front of the screen is blocked, or nearly so. the grill must be removed and the drain in the bottom of the box needs clearing out.

Best done sooner than later as it can damage the heater fan regulator.

I do not have the info to hand,,but might be able to make a sticky thread If I can for all the cars

Hi Malcolm.
I'd be very grateful if you could send me the info for unblocking the drains on a W123 saloon (1979 250).

Thanks,
Joseph.

I've cleared out the leaves and sycamore seeds from may car everyday this week. Nice feature on my 211 is that the leaves cannot get down to block the drains as there is a plastic trim under the top edge of the bonnet that holds them back :)
I did manage to cut my finger on the boot rubber strip though sliding round to get the leaves out of the area below the rear window :-(

On the older cars there can be up to 5 drain pipes, my info covers the 140,129,124,201,107 and 123

Is there some how that members could know that I send this paper out more than any other. I cannot put it up in full through copyright reasons
