My first car was a 62' austin seven [mini] TTY 164. It cost £40, had no interior trim on the doors, a clubman fibre glass front and no inner wings to speak of. In those days engines were more or less clapped out after about 40k and this had done 60. The wand type gear stick had about a foot of slack in all directions and top speed was about 65mph at which speed conversation was impossible. Stopping distance from this speed was about equivalent to an oil tanker's. No seat belts of course and demisters were a joke.
Have to stop now it's time for my nap.
cheers
pete

You're showing your age chaps! ;)

So am I 'cos I really wanted a GT6  . I ended up with a 1.3 Mk2 Cortina - not much difference is there?

Mind you, I always said I would be driving a Mercedes before I was 40.

I bought a 1 litre B reg Metro, white with a brown bonnet and blue door featuring mismatched wheel trims and a coathanger for an aerial; neither a good look or a particularly good car.

I wanted a jag xj-s v12. Still do, in fact.
