Back today from my venture around France, Switzerland and Italy.

Despite my thoughts, the S class was fault three throughout its entire journey.

Cleaned and vaced out after my trip to cornwall. 1000miles 39.9mpg which isnt bad with a roof box air break on.

Fitted a new Lambda sensor to the E class ( last week ) . Sprayed a can of Wynns egr/turbo cleaner through the front of the turbo , put a diesel fuel system cleaner in the tank . Treated the old girl to a new MAP sensor and a new Boost sensor as well . Now seems to have a faster pick up on acceleration (maybe all in the mind , but who knows )

Better than standard but not too loud, i would say its a subtle improvement that is barely noticable from within the car but when the roof is down it is much more noticable. Standing behind the car there is a deeper more burbly (is that a word?) sound. I'm pleased i had it done, at last! On the drive back home the car felt slightly more responsive to the throttle but that may be a placebo effect.

We had friends over last weekend, with a lovely great big golden retriever, that on a walk through a somewhat dry New Forest found the only wet mud pit and promptly rolled around in the slimey smelly mess.

Then jumped in the back of the car and deposited mud and hair everywhere.

I became a contortionist getting the boot area to thoroughly clean it. Took over 2 hours.

When we arrived home we tethered the doggy to the tow bar, then washed him using the water butt water and doggy shampoo. Not a single mark in the house. However where he shook himself over the outside back quarters and rear means when it gets colder this evening the car will be washed.

That doggy would have had a long walk home along with the person who was stupid enough to open the car allowing it in. I would have had to have my dogocidal (similar to homicidal) tendencies kept under very tight control, as my OCD would have gone into automatic overdrive along the lines of, kill, kill, KILL. Then clean, clean, CLEAN.

My first thought when I read "When we arrived home..... was that you had actually tethered it and made it run home and I wondered how it coped with 50mph. I was also quite shocked that I found it amusing, so, I apologise for my sick soh but, must admit when someone or something gets my car dirty I can be very unpleasant. VERY!!!!
I find your self control and, restraint remarkable and admirable. Well done.

Got lucky on E-Bay but usually use www.Camskill.co.uk if you order them before the end of the month you get a £10 Love to shop voucher per tyre

Waited 5 hours (!) for MB recovery (now run by the RAC apparently) to turn up when the aux drive belt failed. Fortunately we weren't far from home so I was able to send swmbo home in a taxi for her car and we were able to take the caravan home while waiting.

Technician was well ticked off as his brief was warning light on dash, despite me having investigated and reported the precise fault.
Took him about an hour to fit a new belt (which of course i had to pay for) so thank goodness I managed to limp off the M61 and into a trading estate out of the way

I've found two 235/40/18's on Camskill for £76 each, looks promising.

Make sure you get the XL variant. They have a slightly stiffer sidewall that helps turn in and straight line stability.
