Changed my CD collection that has been in the 6 disc player for 20 odd months, one can get rather tired of the same old tracks :D

Fitted my "free" Mercedes me adapter - kind of cost me £100 along with a health-check and wash and vacuum as they couldn't find a fault in any of the steering / suspension components.

BF4361E8-F8DE-4C1C-B060-411E39EB1EA6.jpeg Drove over to Sault this afternoon across a pass (sorry can’t remember name) just over 3600ft on the D1 which is a beautifully engineered road, wide with long sweeping bends. Shame about the new 50mph national speed limit in France but it was early afternoon so I assumed the Gendarmes would still be at lunch! ;) Came back through the Gorge de la Nesque which is a totally different road, narrower, tight bends and some interesting tunnels. Great afternoon and nice and cool in the car showing 32° outside.

I'm not the only one then! :)
I remember my dad having a cassette player that was in the car when he bought it. It had a Hot Chocolate tape in it. He never bought any cassettes. He played that tape for at least 4 years. It was still in the car when he scrapped it.

That second road looked like one of what the French call 'balcony roads'. This site lists quite a few and they're on my list of must dos...

Yes, it’s on that list - D942 Sault
Thought it might be. Last time we were in Sault the smell of lavender was overpowering. Quite lovely to see it all in flower in the valley below.

Too late now for lavender sadly but we have been there in June and it was beautiful and aromatic.

I wouldn’t say the Gorge road was dangerous as there was easily space for two cars to pass all the way through except the tunnels. We did see a motorbike with two up coming the other way far too fast for the road. It would only have needed a minor incident and the small wall at the edge may have stopped the bike but the riders would have been straight over the top into the Gorge.

Sounds similar, for I too had one tape in the 450se (The Eagles Greatest Hits) played it pretty much over and over holidaying in the Lake District in '83. My mates girlfriend, now his wife hates The Eagles  :D
