Only ever flown first with Sri Lanka Air from the Maldives. Free upgrade from premium as they cancelled a flight and gave our seats away.

We had the cabin to ourselves and our 2 children (aged 10 and 12) and 2x Air Stewardess.

Felt so sorry for the Air Stewardess assigned to our girls, they were both quiet and well behaved but wouldn't eat and she was so worried they weren't eating, offered them anything they wanted including steak or ice cream but they were just not interested (what a waste of 2x seats)!

Some years ago we were the passengers everyone dreads seeing get on the flight - a baby under 1 who was intent on destroying everything in sight using acoustic shock waves....
The poor stewardess took pity on us and offered us use of a business class seat so we could get away from him for a break. On top of that she talked to him and suddenly went quiet. She spent virtually her entire shift with him on her hip as she went about her work on the plane. He was as quiet as a mouse....
I should add the flight was Heathrow to Singapore so it was no small undertaking on her part! I have to admit - the young lad had exquisite taste as the stewardess was absolutely stunning (mind you most of them are on Singapore Airlines). The use of the business class seat was never more appreciated as we never knew when he'd be returned to us in full voice!

On another flight (Air NZ LAX to AKL - one of the most boring flights on the planet as there is nothing to see out the window except water for the entire 12 hour flight) the chief steward decided to entertain the passengers by having a quiz. Prizes were bottles of champagne and trips to the flight deck (shows how long ago!). Certainly relieved the boredom for an hour or so.

On a slightly different note I was also on the second flight out of Heathrow after 911. The flight was to Washington so you can imagine the tension in the aircraft, especially when we flew over NYC and could see the smoke rising from the WTC remains.
In Washington a guy had bought out the entire contents of one of the gift shops and was handing out free T-shirts, pens, etc to everyone who walked past, all the time proclaiming what a great country America was. Interesting times

To finish the tale of planes, trains and automobiles used the 230 to commute to the railway station this morning. SWMBo was going to use it to take one of the dogs to the vet... Not ****** likely!

Left the Panzer on the drive and took the XC90 through the flooded roads of the Scottish Borders - wise choice in the end!
Oh and 32.6 mpg not bad for 3 tons of Swedish steel!

Gutted for you. :(

No note left I take it? Any CCTV in the area or is it not worth chasing for what looks like "just" the lens?

If I had my way, perpetrators of this sort of damage should be made to pay 2 x the cost of it. And publicly flogged.

It was a bit soggy over Shap and Southern Scotchland so I had the top up. No issues with being blown around like the lorries and 4x4’s being so low though :)

Nothing at all, parked on the road and no CCTV anywhere near

Needs a new cluster

Any panel or bumper damages?
I feel for you, has someone reversed past yours into the space behind and clipped you on the way in?

It’s in no way “good” but it’s a much easier and cheaper fix to just replace the light cluster. I had to do the same on my VW Caravelle when it reversed into the wheelie bin. I only had a 1” crack in mine but replaced the unit as it bugged me.

Was a bit nasty really- up the A7 from Longtown to Hawick there was a brave soul in a Corsa sandwiched between me and a truck up front who insisted on blasting through deep standing water without slowing so I had to despatch them both on a straight - didn’t want to be picking up their pieces later !:)

Sympathy from me also. My last ex-company car was snagged badly in the rear quarter in a hotel car park in Wales a few years back.
- No CCTV and the police station over the road was closed. The "service" (or lack of) phone outside didn't work.

Check Euro Car Parts price and look for any special offers - they can be quite good (and helpful). I had to buy a Renault cluster for SWMBOs Scenic. Typically there are two manufacturers and strangely the cheaper one came complete with bulbs - literally two screws and plug and go.

The car was nice and clean yesterday so I spent 20 minutes with some instant spray and wipe polish.

At 1:00 am the weather became quite "persistent" and hasn't stopped yet although it's now down to drizzle. Typical.
- I wonder: if I went outside and threw some muck all over it, would it be sunny tomorrow?

Got the 190 all shined up for a local Cars & Coffee meet in the morning. :)

Then looked at the weather forecast. Looks like it'll have another day in the garage. :(

I've spent many hours over the last couple of months getting rid of mountains of stuff from our garage in the hope that my splendid SL could be tucked in there for the winter. Today I washed the car then drove it into the garage, great. Only then it dawned on me that I can't open the door wide enough to get out. Someone very slender and supple might just manage it, but not me.

Thankfully my brother has offered safe haven in one of his many garages, where it spent last winter, but it's 25 miles from home so I won't be able to run it out now and then as I'd hoped. So frustrating that modern garages are intended for little cars and limbo dancers.
