Thank you AMGeed, I hope this will work as I think it makes an older MB bang up to date.

:p

That does look much nicer than the MB offering.

A minor service and an MOT done today. No advisories :D

I have a strong suspicion that, Mercedes Northampton has done the transmission oil change again for me this year.
They've done it last year as part of B service with 5 additional items.
Last year the mileage was 33k, this year - 37,660 and ATF is officially due at 37,500 so I see where the confusion might come from, but ... don't they have any records?

swooshing noise

Well I've just brought a a220 cdi amg 2.1 2014 when I open the bonnet and press the accelerator I can hear like a swoosh noise as if there's like air coming out of a pipe is that normal for these cars sorry new to Mercedes

I would check the turbo hoses, connections, and inlet manifold gaskets first. Kind regards Dave

After a few weeks of faffing around and i eventually fitted the new wheels + tryes.

First issue was the MB hub bearing cover was sitting too far through the new wheel for the center cap to fit.

So i purchased a couple of new caps and modified them to suit.

Which was a resounding failure , so i next made a bespoke set to suit the hubs / wheels.

Who would have that ,properly, fitting a set aftermarket wheels would have been such a PITA.

So all done now and onto the next mod. , the reversing camera.

The problem with fitting spacers to the front is that there is only about a 9mm of a raised location diameter so if you take up 5mm of that there is only around 4mm for the wheel to locate on , factor in the small chamfer on the bore of the wheel then there will be next to nothing holding the wheel true.

I made these to keep everything true.

The hub nut covers were very much trial + error and i had to pop into work three times to modify them.

Hi All

I visited a wheel alignment garage near my home today for the second time in 1 week. I wanted to prove that my 17 year old C230K could meet the exacting wheel alignment spec's despite its age.

The first time I attempted to have the wheels aligned 1 week ago I forgot to mention to the technician that I carried tools in the boot. The consequence of which was a -ve camber on both rear wheels that the technician could not eliminate. Realising my mistake I removed everything from the boot except the spare tyre and the Mercedes toolkit.

I had the wheels checked again today and achieved an almost perfect result. Only the Thrust Angle was a tiny fraction of a degree out thus proving wheel alignment should only be attempted with the boot empty and with no passengers or heavy items inside the car.

I will return some of the tools to the boot but at least I will know the consequences of my action. I am prepared to live with the result.

And sadly ironic given Phil's post.

Just now, on my way into work a friendly c*** of a lorry driver came around a sharp 90 deg bend at around 40mph half on my side of the road. Cue an emergency stop and a hard avoidance manoeuvre to the left, resulting in one badly kerbed alloy rim. This is on the CL.

So, now I need a 4WA and a diamond cut repair. Lovely, a great start to the weekend.

No dashcam Alex! That's on my list of things to have fitted this year!

Mint Alloys of Bedford, £85 ex VAT to recut a diamond cut alloy. Not bad at all.

Damn it! I've been avoiding the dash cam route (can be a double edged sword I guess?) but now I'm thinking...
That's dreadful Craig, but a good result on the diamond cut- last ones I had done were 120 a corner (stupid school parking on previous 212)

My wife went out to the car in the middle of the night (well actually 4am) - quiet as the dead on our road, she opened the door and 'pfffffftttttttt' the compressor hissed at her! hahaha, I could hear the screams from inside. Made my day so far !:D:D
