You rang??? :geek:

You lie! Airwolf was destroyed! ;)

Actually she was. Bell 222 #47085 crashed as an air ambulance in 1992, killing her 3 occupants. :(

This is the stuff. £38 for 15 tubs.

"Bird Free Fire Gel".
Hi Craig,
Appreciate you havent trailed it yet. But do you think it would work from 2 meters?

Reason I ask is this Ariel, its pole is paralell to the wall but overhangs the driveway. I.e. I would need to put it in the pole or the roof. As its a gel I would be concerned in heavy rain would it dilute and drip or spray on the car .. no idea whats in it.

Sadly it has to be twisted to ge tthe signal, had I known that I would have got an angles pole .. real pain to change as its at the highest point !

They sit on it and poo all over any car underneath! And boy to they love washed cars and are addicted to polished ones. The amout of crap is directly proportional to the level of shine!

I've no idea. But on the advert it shows that they're able to be cable tied to tree branches, so I'd have thought you could tie one to the antenna pole right at the top...

damn birds!!!

Thanks.
I know it sounds pathetic, but it is a bit depressing if you spent hours washing, claying and polishing.
And 20 minutes later its covered in crap!
Cable tied sounds a good option, as I could fix them above the roof.

Being into boys toys ... I do naturally have options :):):)
FullSizeRender.jpg

And for devotees .. yes that is a genuine Leopold M1 x25 Sniper Scope .. accurate to 1/4" at 900 meters.
Guranteed to work! And does what that t says on the tin.
Well it has to with a lifetime guarrantee
Those were the days :) :)

As Mrs May would say .. best to negotiate from a position of strength. :):)

Just needs a service. Not too onerous having changed all the steel bolts to stainless and gold plated the trigger and guard .. so as low maintenance as possible.

I know the feeling. The end of our driveway has a big tree, loads of branches and is full of the little flying swine. My cars just get carpet bombed.

The Leopold M1 has 1/4 MOA adjustment. That's just over 1/4" per 100 yards... not 900. Besides, that rifle can reach out and touch something out to 150, maybe 200m for a kill shot on a windless day.

Anyway, nice bit of kit. But unless you're 50m from a public road, it's more than your freedom is worth.

You know your scopes, this ones got a custom turret. And at 900 meters wind currents, and heat thermals have way more influence than 1/16 MOA.
And yes you would have to use the SAKO 85 LRH or a DAN .338 if you could get one LOL. To achieve results at 900m.
This one in the picture is good for 100m imo.
But would definitely do the job.

Public road proximity is vip.

But your idea is a tad more pragmatic, to nail 30 or 40 would just take tooooo long.
And I am sure they would be replaced the following week lol

Booked car in for a new rear hub. The wheel restorer paid the dealer.
Requested new batteries for my brand new key. Suddenly started saying "replace Key Batteries" .. only on the new key :-0

I used to do a lot of 7.62 shooting out to 800m, and now and again .303" out to 1100 or so (which requires about 12 degree elevation on iron sights!) Was never grown up enough to be allowed to play with .338 though- boo. Fingers crossed I might be able to pick up a No.4 rifle in the next couple of years so I can get back into shooting, long story. I've almost certainly forgotten more than I can remember when it comes to thermal and wind effects on target, I can remember watching the wind push my rounds entire targets to the right on Sennybridge J3 range...

A more mundane item... my S203 is set with ASSYST so the OBD tells me when it wants an A or B service.

But I realised from seeing some postings on here that they never even check the transmission fluid on an A/B service (no dipstick) so I have it booked in for a Transmission Service on Tuesday. I'm surprised that the documentation about ASSYS doesn't mention attention needed in other areas and AFAIK the 'box works perfectly but I don't want to find a problem the hard way!

I thought they did check all fluid levels on a B service, except the diff.
I was told they use a 'service dipstick' ?

I think the only dipstick used is the one in overalls. (Or perhaps more fairly, the one in the suit in the office).

Neither MB MK, nor supplying dealer bothered to change the ATF on mine, even though it was 3.5 yrs old and 21,500 miles at point of sale. Had a succinct discussion with them about "3yrs or 30,000 miles, whichever comes soonest", and they agreed to pay my local dealer for the job.

Hi I meant "CHECK" NOT "CHANGE"
Agreed on that point. Being an old git I have been through that mad phase when gearboxes were "sealed for life" !!!!
My argument was always ... if you had to change it in the last 2 varients of this model engine. I dont beleive Mercedes has no made an indestructable gearbox, its fundamentally the same kind of metal! .. and ATF fluid doesnt suddenly aquire the magic perpetual lifespan" gave up on the point just paid for it to be changed at 40,000 miles like the previous model.
Similar issue on engine oil. Originally you changed the oil at 1,000 to 1,200 miles and then every 5,000 miles. All of a sudden the same 5.0L V8 under service assyst .. turn the key and it says next service due in 2 years or 14,800 mile WTF!
( then I found out the truth .. it was all about knocking out a few services within the average 3 year Lease )
If Mercedes didnt do that then their vehicles £/month would become uncompetitive! )
So I just did my own thing and had them change the dam oil every 5,000 miles with an initial change at 2,500 miles. Used Mobil1 0W40.
Was it worth it? Who knows ...
but
1. none of my engines ever used any oil between services
2. Never had a mercedes engine problem
3. I could always exceed their stated mpg figures
4. And just before an oil change was due, the oil always looked like light coloured golden syrup. (Conversely my sisters CLK went by Service Assist 13,900 for the first service and the ****** oil looked like tar! - and it used 0.5 litres between services.)
5. Always got top price for my cars when traded. Actually the first person to view them always bought it.
6. In the old days when you had an oil pressure guage, even when they were searing hot the oil pressure was at the max. Stated value at tickover
So I was happy.
I negotiated a cheap price for these extra oil changes. Come on whats £120 for an oil service once a year when you spent £80,000 on the car!

IMO not doing this is not "being tight" its "being stupid"
But as they say, hey "its your car, do what you want"

I agree about over oil servicing a car , keep the car tip top for the price of a night out on the lash , no brainer , mine had only done 3k since it was last serviced but did it again anyway
