So Nicholas15, Flowrider and OOSLK, are you all saying the 18mpg I got from mine was due to my driving 'style'? ....surely not!:(

2005 CL500.
I got 30.1mpg out of my SL500 when I collected it from Manchester driving it to North Herts. Kept to motorway speeds all the way.

I can get higher than that...but the SL is heavier.

Had aircon regas done on a cheapo deal via Groupon. It was already working ok but after 3+ years ownership it seemed like a good idea. Certainly at least as cool after, and the right amount of gas put in, so far as I can tell, looking at the printout. I notice no oil was added, however. I believe this is to lubricate the compressor mainly. Will it be ok, I wonder...

Ewww now let me think long and hard about this YES :p

Perhaps i shouldn't mention over 3,400 miles i have averaged 32 mpg. But I confess I normally drive in comfort mode with just the occasional blast to leave a "Z4" in the rear view mirror.

To be pedantic Lammermuir hills, but lovely driving around there in an SL, totally suits the car's character. Glad you enjoyed it. I'm quite stunned at the 30.1mpg never got near that when I had mine!

As you say the hills totally suited the cars character - especially with the roof down. Empty twisting roads with virtually no other traffic. Also the car seems to be running more smoothly after the trip down (hopefully not tempting fate).

My cunning plan to suction out 0.5L from each cars power steering reservoir and replace with new fluid didn't really work . The Clk reservoir let me get 200ml out with a large syringe , but the E class reservoir didn't seem to let the tube in so maybe 50ml came out ....not sure why .
I know it's not something that is normally changed but I wanted to use up the litre of fluid in a useful way .
I may just do another 4 syringes of the Clk every couple of weeks to use it up that way .

Gave the CL a quick jet wash at the local garage, then down to the MOT station, where, pleasingly it got a clean pass. :)

The A-class is due it's turn tomorrow....... Concerned as the brake warning light seems to flicker occasionally, fluid level is ok, and it's not the wear sensors....hmmmmmm.
- and I don't feel like fiddling with it as I've currently got chronic bilateral tennis elbow, with 'some delamination of the muscle' ....which basically equals pain, and lots of it! (Steroid injections only lasted 4 months). Neoprene straps on both, start physio next week....
Hey, ho. :(

Drove it to Wales , a quick 300 miles . On the way on the M6 there was a white Rolls Royce stopped on the hard shoulder by an unmarked police car , he had the number plate 3RR , bet that cost some money !
