The catch on the centre console was broken when we bought the car and have been looking for one the right colour.
Last Friday this was advertise and as a bonus came with a phone cradle which will replace the broken one in my 55
Next job will be to fit it.

Dropped the engine oil on the 190E and, after changing the filter, replaced with some nice new stuff as recommended by Merparts up in Port Glasgow. (Fuchs 10w30). It took around 15 minutes to change, plus another 30 to clean up all the old stuff which leaked from my waste oil container. :(
The car's only done about 2,000 miles since being fully rebuilt though whilst having records for transmission and engine oil changes, I had nothing for the rear end so that was the first thing to be done. All fluids (apart from brake) are now new, along with any filters, leaving me the fuel filter (which looks brand new) and brake fluid to go.

It goes in for a bit of paint next Monday and as soon as I get it back from there I'm going to take it for a well deserved little drive somewhere.

Some 'post-paint' pics would be nice.

That Spoiler looks really nice .... suits the car.
Where did you get it from? and did it come painted the right colour?

Always wondered, when you add these do they create a wind noise? But I guess it would be behind you.

It's only some minor cosmetic stuff on the rear quarters, just that I want to catch it before it spreads. I don't want to go all out with a full blown respray as I want to maintain as much originality as possible, so it's just the little bits which need sorting.

The guy who's doing it is proper old-school so I know that it will be right when it's done, and it helps that I've known him for years. :)

Obviously no after pictures yet, but here's a before one: -

    Finally sorted the 129's misfire.
In the end it had a new injection (top of engine) harness, new throttle body harness (technically both were rebuilt by Sileck Motorsport in Kent), new inlet air temp sensor and 2 new distributor caps (theses were the final fix although all other parts were faulty - the IAT was reading -38 degrees!).
I've also just received two new front discs for the 210 (Grangemouth MB sorted them out really quickly and for the same price as Eurocarparts).

    Everything all coming together nicely.....

Not mine, but the 2017 Mercedes' I drive for a living has brake assist, or radar activated brakes, (along with other fail safe drivers aids) really scary when the other car is in the outside lane waiting to turn right and you are in the left lane and get the red triangle warning and beep, (because we are on a slight sweeping bend) then it goes crazy with the warning buzzer, next thing your eye balls are flat against the windscreen as the Actros's 12 disc brakes all applied at the same time to avoid a rear end collision  My god, if it can't determine which lanes the other cars are in, there's no hope for driverless lorries o_O It's always warning of an approaching obstacle, such as bollards, small traffic Islands and other vehicles, but never had the brakes apply like this before. Though quite cool in away, but not good if there was anybody tailgating me. :D

Driving home from the supermarket, take a familiar roundabout and whoooa, all sideways on the exit!
Damp road and spilled diesel or oil, could have been lethal for a two wheeler....
I had to go back and have another try:cool:
    She was not impressed, however:rolleyes:

Drove the 129 to work... The sound of an m119 at full chat is very addictive! :)

Its as much induction roar as exhaust on my 129.... (it needs the exhaust being made a little louder....ok - a lot louder!)
I' m thinking about a 'loud switch' to open alternative exhaust paths with much less sound absorbtion....

Very nostalgic, brings back memories of my FIRST Mercedes a 190e 2.6 ... Metalic Black and full-black leather. God She was beautifully built, just needed lowering and big Duchatelet wheels. Sadly no digi pics.
Did 45,000 miles in 3 years and OMG actually lost one brake light bulb!
Bl**dy flawless that car. Those were the days when Mercs were Mercs.

And with no private leasing .... a Mercedes was pretty special.

Eternally grateful to Rover ... been fighting with my company to let me have a company car allowance for 2 years and get rid of that nightmare of a car. ( only one year old and it broke down monthy!)
Then on the way to get a £2M contract signed and the deposit cheque! ... and the head totally blew off half way up the M40 ...
    Missed the signing meeting!!!
Got my car allowance ... the next day! he he ( the MD had an S 500 ... :):) )

An acquaintance in Miami has those switches, diverts the exhaust before the big back boxes on his big block Corvette, into two 6" pipes. Jesus it sounds like a hurricane!
One thing he did say was, its essential to get a good make, and then they are trouble free! On his the flaps acts as a scraper every time it opens. So any carbon crud just gets brushed out into the short tubes.
