Got my R230 MOT’d today .....got my first refusal to issue certificate form ......nothing wrong with the car but he wouldn’t pass it because a had 3D font on my numbrplates!! .... I can find no reference to these being illegal but he said they were..... I had to go home and put my spare set on (not the best looking plates as they have lots of different holes in them)

Don't let this spoil the warm glow of passing the MOT.

I'm quite surprised all he could fault it on was a number plate ....... I've got a shimmery feeling at the rear end when I go over bumps so thought the subframe rubbers might have gone....... I put 2 new front tyres on it this week and it feels better at the front ....I might put 2 new tyres on the back end and see if it helps

It's definitely new battery time , after not using it for 4 days , it started with the SRS warning light on for the first 10 miles of the journey . I did some ringing round and MB are pretty standard at £157 for my W211 . I thought I'd just check the price at MB Grangemouth , I spoke to Neil in parts , and he is doing a deal to forum members of £118.27 , + the usual £5 delivery . Needless to say at that price I ordered one immediately . (Thanks Neil ! )

Bought and fitted new passenger side wing mirror glass. Easier than anticipated (just clips on) and cheaper too at £20 inc postage and that's for a heated one

I saw a thread on Pistonheads too where somebody got a fixed penalty for having them!

Had them myself up until a couple of years ago - nobody ever said anything!

I think it’s got Michelin pilots on the rear / also had them on the front ( got a nick in the side wall on one so changed them both ) .... I don’t know how long they have been on the car .... I will change the rears next week and see if it is any better ...I can’t definitely feel at difference up front with the new boots

Pilots are good- had them on my SL....

I’ve got Falken Azenis on the front which were a recommended all rounder .... I do less than 3000 miles a year so they should last a while ...I will change the rears next week and see how it is

Just got my new E class battery delivered ( ordered only yesterday from MB Grangemouth at a record beating price ) put it in the garage on the trickle charger because it's now raining . Maybe tomorrow . God it's heavy !!

Put the 190 back together, all rust free and sorted hopefully.

Then looked at the 213, decided that it looked a bit grubby so gave it a quick wipe down and shine. Apart from the wheels which I seem to be neglecting at the moment, probably due to idleness and old age...

I'll tell you what I 'done' to my Merc today...............
I waved it goodbye from the pavement, as the scrap dealer tow truck dragged it's sorry chain broken butt off to the crusher.
120.000m 2005 C180K estate, f/s/h in rather lovely condition in side and out.
May never buy another Mercedes Benz again!

And by the same token, my brother sold his 2004 C220CDi in the summer with only one track rod end required in 14 years of ownership. It's a lottery.
