Changed the engine, gearbox and diff oil on the CLK, replaced the brake fluid and mirror glass,

Gave the 124 it’s first wash since coming back from Germany......

That sounds like a busy day!

Good point :coffee: It is coming from the back of the engine but up high, the tray under the engine/Trans is filling up with oil then leaking onto the exhausts
It will be going in soon for a good going over :)

Had a leak like this on my 2007 SL350. Turned out to be the access covers in the back of the cylinder head for inserting the cam locking tool. Reasonably cheap fix (comparatively)......

An old B-Class.
Just inflated tyres on my w203 c270, in PSI they were RN 21.5, RO 30.5, FN 27.5, FO 29.5

Looks like I may have to get them re-sealed on the crappy rims, tyres are Michelin CrossClimate only 1yo, all four corners.

I'm thinking of going for Nitrogen......it seems to maintain correct pressure for a lot longer...

It's a bit of a myth... Air is 78% nitrogen...
The real issue with tyre pressure fluctuations is water vapour. Use a proper compressor with water traps and not garage forecourt ones.

Generally right only difference which is tangible otherwise is the temperature stability of Nitrogen

Drove from Glasgow to Bournemouth in 7 hours with the engine temp showing a constant 85 or so ..never wavered up or down from it... now why didn’t my main dealer pick this fault up 2 YEARS ago when I pointed out I thought the thing was running too cool then and twice since ... I feel a grumpy letter coming on...

Oxygen (smaller molecules) gets through rubber more easily than N.

The main advantage of N is that tyre pressures stay correct for a lot longer and fluctuate less over temperature range.

I have been looking for an excuse to buy an air compressor !

Tight ar** solution, have a cheap tyre pump and inflate the tyres on a nice dry sunny day (Low humidity). % water vapour has big effect.

Pure nitrogen is also able to handle a sudden rapid thermal input better than air, which can form a thermal mirror effect. One of the reasons why it’s used in aeroplane tyres; landing imparts a huge thermal input.

About to go for a drive in the snow this morning so the missus and I can enjoy the landscape in my favourite setting. I will also find out if Michelin’s claims are correct about the CrossClimate tyres ;)

All of which is true when racing but for road use tyre temperature is relatively constant and if you compare the difference in tyre pressure over a year between air and nitrogen is only 1.3 psi. Hence nitrogen for road cars has minimal benefit over air with the exception of water vapour. If you put dry air in your tyres the difference is even less as it's the moisture that causes most issues.

One note, they did feel like they worked 10-15% better than standard all weather or summer tyres but still woefully inadequate for even this breath of snow. Thinking about ordering snow socks as there certainly does not seem clearance in the arches for chains. Any recommendations? Never used socks.

Socks are only of use in getting you started off I believe?
