And was said Wife involved in this expenditure? From my own personal experience, Wife's tend to look at all vehicular expenditure with a less than favourable eye... and God help you if it clashes with some Wife considered "essential" purchase...... LOL

Gave the car a proper wash today after my trip to Heathrow Saturday got it as dirty as its ever been in close to 5 years of ownership. The salt from the roads was stubborn to get off and black bits of dirt kept washing out of the door mouldings for ages.
Took close to 2 hrs just to properly wash and dry it.
Sealed the wheels, dressed the tyres with Megs endurance gel and a coat of Sonax BDS on the paintwork and its good for another week or so.

Filled the boot with snow.

Wiped the snow off the bootlid then pressed the button to open the boot , once the lid reached its maximum height the snow on the rear screen slid gracefully under the gap and into the boot before i had time to turn round and close the blasted thing.

Note to self , clear the screen as well as the bootlid before opening it.

Set up the update and registered the new MBII ready for a play tomorrow lunch time (and check out whether it will access the Comand module for Peter/Sub...from what I’m reading so far I don’t believe it will). Car filthy otherwise, busy family weekend and foul weather today....

I left mine in too, shouldn’t be a problem I don’t think Peter.
My unit came with an SD card reader /USB so I updated that then put it back in the MB2 ,did the update to the unit and left it in. As you say it didn’t say not to..

Oh very much so, only because she has to drive the 48year old car while hers is off the road Her only concern is that it is clashing with the house renovation essentials ..........
