Ridiculous price for something that costs £1 max to make

Well we are on the same wave length. I have baulked at buying this for months.
Just couldnt get myself to order it.

But as the weld undid, it got more and more unsightly!
As its the only damaged peice of trim on the whole car! Needs must to bring her up to spec.

I really scoured ebay for months ... trouble is there are 4 black or anthracite varients (additional sub clour code to the main part no. ) so on ebay they dont know.
And the only one I saw that looked likely in 5 months wanted £120! ... and couldnt even say if it was utterly mint!
And then it could have been slightly off colour.
Oh well job done now. :-0

As an update to my cardiac saga...
Met the off duty met mounted police woman that gave me CPR at the scene of the E350 demise...
A very modest young lady, young family and only assigned A few months ago. She didn’t see the car crash into the recreation ground by the main road and she stopped because the car was running and clearly damaged! I was unconscious but breathing albeit gasping for air whilst with me I stopped breathing and she dragged me out onto the wet snowy ground and initiated CPR, after 20 mins an off duty fireman took over the massage whilst she continued giving breathing support, the ambulance arrived some 5 mins later.
My partner and kids, on arrival at hospital were warned that with a ‘down time’ of this duration (20-25mins) permanent damage is a risk.

Anyway, I’ll not be looking at Beemers or Audi’s so no damage here!
I’m being offered work again, so I’m looking at a replacement pride and joy soon..

Thanks for all the messages of support, it’s been an experience made easier with the banter and sincerity this site gives....
Wow - 20 minutes CPR is hard work and dedication from your helpers (having been there I know how tough that can be!)
You were very lucky to find two such dedicated and knowledgeable helpers and I'm sure I'm not alone on here in being thankful you did.

Just goes to show the dedication given by our emergency forces, some may argue it is their job but like all walks sometimes you find good workers and sometimes bad, the only difference here is you were lucky enough to have dedicated ones resulting in you being alive to tell the tale!

The one for my A3 was £47 and I was seriously unimpressed with that. £156 is ridiculous.

There’s a lot of luck in my story...
The fact that someone stopped at all.
The fact that they were well trained. (7 broken ribs and a fractured sternum!).
The fact that they handed-over to an ambulance crew that took me to the specialists further away, rather than local A&E (despite the allocation instructions!).
The fact that it was freezing temperatures....

The consultant surgeon told me 92% of people don’t recover in a clinical environment and my mate (also a consultant) has known of only three survivors in 40 years...

I can’t complain...

Good news.
Just as well they were both off duty, otherwise they'd have been on a disciplinary for breaking protocol by extracting you from the vehicle without cutting the roof off and using a spinal board after isolating your neck, I kid you not.

You can now play the non understanding card each time you are asked to do something by your partner, see silver lining to every cloud

The emergency services will appreciate the black humour, even if the pc sensitive mob won't!! :alien:

Wow mate. What can I say that hasn’t already been said. 20-25mins is a long time to be receiving CPR. Credit to the young police woman and fireman that basically saved your life!

Glad to hear your on the mend. As you now have a new lease on your ticker make sure you make those ticks count!!

I know where you are coming from but not breathing/heart issues trumps all other rules and requires immediate extrication by easiest means , there are methods available to lessen neck injuries but these aren't always practical and not all police/fire are aware of them .

And on a really positive note Frosty, you are now technically a Hybrid, so should qualify for a reduction in tax somewhere! ;)

VW Scirocco. The Quattro, E350 CDi Blue Efficiency Sport Coupe, now both gone
Similar original story Jimbo, mine developed into cardiac arrest and an implant being fitted (pacemaker+defibrillator) as a precautionary measure in the absence of any damage/cause being evident it was a toss up with DVLA- 1 month or 6 depending on whether the device was a treatment or a precautionary treatment!
Luckily the consultant made the appropriate comment on his questionnaire!
Good to have that ‘take for granted’ freedom back!!!

Well I ended up getting a triple by pass and another stent put in, I feel like a young lad again, I can work, run, lift weights everything I used to take for granted. :D:D

And now, here's my entry into the Most Insignificant Upgrade competition:

from this:

to this:

(this pic was taken while I was still testing, so the cluster is not fully fitted yet)

On the plus side, I discovered that, the back cover had a broken bit (surround of one of the screws), so replaced the entire cover (luckily, I had a donor speedo).

Oh, and perhaps another entry - this time it's the Most Frivolous Mod competition:
