In terms of what? Cleaning? Moisturising? Softening?

When you say "firm", do you mean as in the leather is hard (unusual for that age) or the support given by the seat is firm (again very unusual for MB seats...)?

First thing would be to check it is real leather - artico which is a form of artificial leather was commonly used.

If its real leather then the issue is the leather is coated. Any softening agent is unlikely to get through the coating (the coating is designed to last the life of the car).

Correct, all automotive leather is spray painted with the exception of R-R.

If it's leather, then buy a Gliptone kit. Cleanser and Treatment. It's very good, the cleanser will remove a surprising amount of cack from the upholstery. Use a small nail brush for best effects. The Treatment will soak into the leather (don't ask me how) and leave it feeling noticeably more supple. I've noticed the difference in both of my older cars.

I would agree, Mine is 2009 and fely a little dry, not as pliable as my cars bought from new that always were conditioned every 4 months.
Never heard of Gliptone before, but seems a favourite on this forum
And no wonder ... I now swear by the stuff!
Its excellent! Period!

As LK said, and I was told by a main Connoly leather agent.
All the leather today is painted.
But as Craig said, Somehow this stuff, well the Conditioner penetrates it. Makes it feel almost dry greasy (but in a luxurious nice way) and much more pliable.
A bit like a brand new car. But in my opinion better.

TBH I just bought the Conditioner.
BTW it drank the whole bottle, so it must soak in??

Yes the white towel I initially used to put it on got a bit dirty, but unless you have messy kids spilling stuff.
I wouldnt bother with the cleaner. But I did work it in and around the first time, which had a cleaning effect.

I found for me, the best thing was to apply it with one of those foam polishing applicator pads, (mainly to scoot over the holes of that ventilated seat system ... perfect job ... it sort of covered the leather, even dipping into the sides if the million little holes; but did not clog them, and VIP no horrendous white pin prick dots when dried!) ... leave a few mins and lightly wipe with a microfibre cloth ( the furry type).
It still then looks a bit wet ... and I didnt like that shiny look.
But ...Leave to soak in overnight, and got a perfect matt , like new from the factory look the next morning.
I did this 2x, and 3 times on the face if seat base and back, and the last time just lightly buffed before dry.

2 days later went out, and my wife wore a tight fitting, creme raw silk suit.
No transference!
So for me thats a bomb proof test.

Interestingly I had a few faint crease lines, like on the drivers bolster; maybe creases are too strong a word, but they virtually dissapeared, sort of plumped up the leather to fill them out. Like ****** magic.

3 seats look like a new car, and the drivers looks more like a sub 15- 20,000 mile car .... and its done 41,000.

Peter, go and buy the cleaner, get a small nailbrush and do your steering wheel. You'll be astonished (and revolted) at the black flakes of human hand grease that come off it!!!

Good point.
I left the steering wheel well alone.
As it has that wood and leather option ... sure it looks lovely but not imo a "driver" option.
Got hungry coming back from MBS and bought a bag of crisps and ate on the go!

Christ no wonder the kids today are fat!
The wooden part was like climbing up a greasy pole!

The cleaner would be good for that.

It's great on everything as it breaks down greases and oils gently. It made the wheel, gear selector and dash on my 215 feel like new. I was really impressed.

It is very good on the lacquered wood trim too, but use it VERY sparingly.
