I've been running H&R springs all round on my w210 e320 for a couple of years now, they were fine and the car was comfy at first but it's not good now.

It feels like I have about an inch of travel and no shock absorbtion atall. It's back breaking to say the least. I guess i have gotten used to it but after driving my family's w211 which is perfect I realise how awful it is, it hasn't gotten worse quickly, but it's definitely worse than when I first put the springs on.

I checked the self levelling about 2 months ago and it seems to be working well, it still went up and down fast when I moved it while disconnected. I didn't perform well when I had the car loaded up really heavy last week though and it rubbed on the tires a bit.

I've just bought some elegance stock springs for the back as the front feels fine as is. I wonder whether the other parts may have gone now aswell though.
I have seen some strut/accumalator sets taken off write offs on ebay for a decent price.

What do you all think should be my course of action, I'd like my car to be back to rolling sofa spec.

Cheers

If no shock absorption then it'll be the spheres. Not too expensive from ECP.

Sounds like your suspension spheres are knackered.

The spheres are filled with gas. The oil in the system alters the length of the strut but the springing is provided (in part) by the sphere. When the sphere fails and there is no gas the ride becomes very hard.

Ok, shall I buy the spheres new or will some decent condition second hand ones work. And i assume I'll need both sides. What about fluid, will I need to buy some more to top up etc.

I'd replace with new and yes you'll need fluid. CHF111 from memory.

I've got some good used spheres going cheap if you don't want to buy new ones
(about £56 each, @ CP4L, IIRC?)
