They are 5 sided security/tamperproof Torx. I have a set used once on a CLK320 many years ago.

Buy a set of security ones off eBay for £5 . You'll need them to repair most things nowadays , shark Hoover's, dysons, microwave ovens, washing machines,they all use these screws.

this is the right answer. it's not just security torx cause those can come in 6 star but these are 5 star. bought 2 set to finally find out. makes no difference if it was a philip or flat head. crazy germans, lol

Can you recommend a set? I haven't found any from a respected brand. Just the cheap and cheerful stuff on ebay and amazon.

I bought a cheap set a little while ago when I needed to remove the wing mirror. The bit I needed for that worked ok. Today I went to use one of the bigger bits to remove the MAF and that bit doesn’t fit. The hole in the end looks too small. Tried to drill it out, but they seem to made of tough stuff, that or my drill bits are naff.

Thanks. When I was looking initially looking I saw Torx Plus still with 6 splines, so incorrectly assumed the security versions would be same, just with the little hole in the middle.

Looking at those Faccom bits and goggling around I now see the all Torx Plus Security bits have the hole and only 5 splines.

I bought these to fix the flex on a shark hoover , done the job for me.

Those look look like standard torx security with 6 lobes. Got lots of these.

Looking on Wera's site you can see the difference. They call the security version IPR, whatever that is.

Look exacty the same but different ..... the op's picture definitely shows just 5 lobes
