Hi
Need some help. Thinking of changing my wheel rims. But know nothing about the sizing and do not understand what the ET is on a wheel so need your help please.
My car is a c250 Estate on a 14 plate, which I believe is a W204. I have taken a wheel off and the following is inside.
ET 58......8.5J x 17 H2
Merc part number is A2044012400

I am looking to buy the following

Aspect Ratio is 40 + 45
Rim Width. 7.5J & 8.5J

The tyres on both set of wheels are the same size, just worried about rims. So please tell me if they will fit my car..

Many Thanks in advance.

Nowhere near enough to go off there.
What's the rim diameter of the new wheels, ET and exact tyre sizes you want to use?
Also what size tyres do you have currently?

The 7.5j is an inch narrower wheel than 8.5j so I certainly don't think the same tyres size should be on it as the 8.5j

sounds like the Sport pack wheel set up so fronts will be 225/45x17, rears will be 245/40x17

you need the 40 aspect ratio tyres on the rear or the traction control, cruise control etc will have a fit and not work as it should.

new wheels will sit out 11mm further. you will need to check clearances, and check that the bolt hole size is the same

Are you sure on those rear tyre sizes?
I would expect 245/40/17.

Rims....
Front rim is 1" narrower so 1/2" per side. ET is 11mm further out from car centre line so the front near enough cancels out.
Rear will sit 11mm closer to the rear arches.
Tyres...
If the rolling circumference is within 2% front to rear they should be ok.

It does. They should fit fine.
The reason the car they came off is important is that there are two variants of books used and you cannot use early (w203) wheels on a 204 or later.

IF you have 11mm clearance to the arches you're good to go.

On my Clk which isn't on the drive to check at the moment , I am pretty sure that the 245/45/17 is the rear and the 225/40/17 is on the front , as I said I'm not 100% till wife gets back later ??

No chance - that would really upset ABS/ESP/Cruise.
