It will literally run on any oil. I could fill the fuel tank with ATF or veg oil and you probably wouldn't know the difference from diesel. It already runs on coal
What price is he thinking about, would he consider a swop for a sorted SLK280? The way my wife packs, we have problems packing for a weekend away with the slk, unlike the 968 cab where we did a 19 day 2600 mile Europe trip! a tin top SL might be the answer - although the chap I PX'd my 968 cab with for the SLK still has my cab for sale at 1k more than he gave me for it (and he claims to have had the soft top changed, which would have cost him most or all of that 1k!!) and I'm sorely tempted to ask him for a cost to swop back!Funny you say that, owner of the R129 is looking to sell actually.
103,000 miles
Recent service includes, plugs, engine oil, filter, brake fluid, coolant change. Dynax underbody cleaning and coating.
Only issues ATM is the PSE pump, as it exploded. A lovely car otherwise.
I know that feeling. I have had SLK 55s in my radar for a while, but covid car prices out a damper on that. Maybe when they start to come down soon!I'd be pushing my luck Alex - when I was thinking about an SLK (as it fits my garage, which an SL would not) I mentioned the SLK55 - and as soon as I mentioned the power output and performance it hit the immediate veto, hence the 280. I suspect the same would happen with an SL500, plus it's a foot too long for my garage (it would JUST fit, but then I could not get across the back of it to access all the crap on various shelves on the back and side of the garage!) Although we know the access/egress problems of the 968 cab I could get away with that, but a big powerful SL would end up in tears.
OK, who voted to walk everywhere....
