SLK 320
Mercedes SLK 320, 70th miles. 2001
Car has had intermittent fault over the last 8 x months belching out white very heavy smoke sometimes. (bad enough that other cars would have to slow down!)
There is no obvious reduction in water coolant levels and oil levels seem constant with no brown/milky deposit. Brake fluid levels are only very slightly down. Gearbox oil has not been checked.
The thoughts were…. from googling forums etc that although quite a low milage ….it has always been run fairly short miles and the engine may have been getting clogged up…..with the top galleries retaining oil perhaps which is then forced back down into cylinders….maybe the oil seals??
You could see quite a lot of sludge through the oil filler.
We fully changed the oil about 2 months ago with flushing agent…. 3 times over Letting it get very hot between each change/flush etc….
Which did bring out a lot of crap/sludge from inside the engine.
The car ran sweet for several months after this without any problems.
However it is smoking again.
Local garage looked at it last week and had no conclusion (except they thought it was an ‘oily’ smell)
Engine oil is still VERY clean and fresh and level is constant…..

Any advice welcomed please?
