I think there must be crossed wires somewhere. A 2005 car is likely to use a normal bulb ...... just replace it like with like.

ther gain if it's all led, then a new cluster is possibly the answer  if it is, I'd be breaking my soldering iron out & having a go

I've only eveer come across 21 watt lamps whether that's a 21/5 watt stop/tail lamp or a 21 watt single filament used as a reverse light or CANbus stop/tail

2005 CL500.
Is this a bulb at the rear in one of the side clusters...or the middle? A pic would be good...more info would be good.

Yes please a picture, there are on the standard single pole 21w bulb, I am sure you do not use the twin filament bulbs

yes, after I posted it I didn't find the replies so I posted it again as I am about to bring it out on the road again

I still didn't get the right answer, some still think it should be 21 watts, I definitely sure is 16 watts which is unusual

Help us to help you...take a pic of what you want or at the very least reply to some of the questions being asked...like which bulb exactly are you looking for? Can it really be so difficult?

How can a bulb not be available...you have one...why do you not want to give all the info? Is your other name Callum?

No such thing as a 16w bulb, there are laws on these things.

I took out the whole light cluster, and inspected the printing on the bulbs

that the part numbers it said 16 watts

it not right to put 5 or 21 watts to replace it

Dunno why I did a search as the OP doesn't seem too bothered about it.

http://www.gsfcarparts.com/959aa4030

Some brake lights are 16w but if there's only one on each side it wouldn't give enough light to be legal.

Lots of cars have many lights for each side, some are LED, some are filament bulbs so I do see how a car may not have a standard 21w per side.
This thread really should be on a dentists forum under the "Pulling teeth" section.
