At 115K mls I'm doing a water pump, tensioner, idler pulleys and aux belt change. I wondered though if I should have an alternator clutch on this car? When I had the aux belt off the other day I noticed the alternator pulley was solid with no clutch action. There is no rattling or noise from the alternator and if it shouldn't have a clutch then no problem... if it should and mine is seized I'll replace it.
Is there any way from looking to know if you have a clutch or not?
If I did find a replacement needed is this tool OK for the job... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/22pcs-Alt...683425&hash=item3acf288786:g:wtQAAOSwFnFV~maD
I see there are cheaper tools like this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-...epid=0&hash=item3aec6a704d:g:BGUAAOxykUZTh7Kp but I assume to need something to go up the middle to hold the alternator shaft still??
