So, what we are saying is, take the culprit headlamp out. Attach it to the other side power source and see if it works?

And, for the sake of clarity (for me at least) is the ballast the ignitor...and if so, what does the ECU look like?

Thanks Television,

If you could send me the info that would be really appreciated, the ECU is tucked right under the lamp, and with the chassis frame in the way, it is nearly impossible to get to.

I will send you my email address, unless you can send me it through the forum email.

Thanks again.

TV's PM box is always full...the only way is to post your email address here...but don't do it until you know he's watching, because you don't want to leave it there too long.

Thanks Naraic,

If you look back at page two I have uploaded a picture of the ECU which is pictured on the bottom of the head light,
the ignitor as far as I am aware is on the bottom of the bulb.

Got it...the ballast is the ecu, the ignitor is the connection to the bulb.

Hi All,

I managed to remove the Head light ECU by removing the P/S inner wheel lining,
from there it was a simple job of just undoing 3 star screws and pulling the ECU out.

Now all I have to do is find a replacement, and keep my fingers crossed this will solve the problem.

At least you should have it all done before the clocks change to Summer time, seriously though it is a painful process, sure you could spend £1k on a new lamp, but that is not funny either

Before parting with your cash, swap it with the one on the other side to see if it works on this side.

Thanks,

I did think about swapping the ECU from one side to the other, but as removing the drivers side is much more time intensive
and involves removing the front bumper etc, I decided not to go down this route, and as I had already checked the bulbs and
they looked ok, I was confident that the issue was with the ECU.

I will know for definite tomorrow.

Having a few spare parts to hand will not do any harm, many parts fit other cars

Problem solved!!!

Finally sorted the problem out :D :D and guess which part had failed??
Yes you guessed correctly it was the ECU head light control unit.

What a relief,

Thank you to: Television, Naraic, Toby1, Rappey69, Daeths
for both taking the time to post, and for the advice.

I would just like to say if anyone has the same problem with their Xenon lights
I would be more than happy to share my experience with other members...

Once again thanks to everyone who helped me!!! :D :D
