My off side Xenon has stopped working. It's not the bulb, I've swapped from side to side.

But, it gets worse. Now if I press the horn, the main beams flash...but no horn. If I switch the headlights on whilst driving, the car stutters and displays any current error message. The car sometimes goes into limp home if I say flash the headlamps.

And...the unit is fogged up.

My thoughts were ballast or ignitor, because the lamp tries to start (flashes and goes off), but now I amm thinking this may be a nad earth.

What does the panel think?

TIA.

seems like a bad earth to me, or possibly a short in the loom somewhere (unlikely, but possible!)

Now look mate, I don't want to make light of a very serious problem, but you press the horn and the lights flash  - have you considered a career change?:lol::lol:

Update.

We all like an update.

Well, having suspected that the cause was a poor earth I went out this morning to check. The main earthing point on the chassis behind the offside headlamp unit was the primary suspect.

When I touched it I discovered the point was completely rusted off and no contact was being made.

Soon fixed that, and everything is as it should be.
