Turn on my lights tonight and where the speedometer is I noticed all the lighting is starting to fade... Will this just be a simple bulb swap???

Thanks guys

P.S. Why are annoying minor faults like this starting to occur? I don't abuse the car, I drive it sensibly and yet these irritating little faults keep happening...

15 years isn't particularly old to be honest. I see many 1980's Mercedes around the place.

Mine's 10 years old now and things do go wrong from time to time, but my theory is that if one part has lasted 10 years I won't have to fix it again!

and I'd rather be spending my money on new parts than losing money on depreciation.

There's more electrics in your seat than there are in an 80's merc ! Hence why not much goes wrong with them.

Are you sure that you have not turned down the dimmer knob in the cluster.

There is/can be a slow deteriation of the amount of light the dash bulbs give out over time as the glass of the bulb burns and becomes black, but if you have noticed a sudden deteriation then replacing the bulbs though may help won,t utimatly be the answer to your problem.

You could rig up a torch to illuminate the dials, like my mate has done on his 1972 series 2a military landrover.
