Default parktronic

I have just taken delivery of a 63 plate c class se exec. I says in the sales lit it has parktronic with guidance. It does have all round parking sensors with the read out bar in front of the windscreen and one in the roof.

How can I tell if it has full parktronic where it shows how to park

I have parktronic on my CL when you are driving slowly a blue P comes up in the center of the dash.

Question

how do you get it to work though?
I've had my E seriers for 4 months now and so far it's engaged once. I have no idea how to get it to function. I asked my local MB dealer and was told that 'the car will tell me when I can use it' but not how to get the thing to work!

I have it on mine and just ignore it. It is of no use.
It lights up on any old street when driving slowly, whether or not parking spaces exist.
My eyes do a far better job.

Yep, same on my C class.
From memory you have to press button on steering wheel then the display tells you when to turn, utterly pointless in my opinion.

Nik.

It's fantastic!
Drive down a road with cars parked on your left at a slow speed, ie if you are searching for a space. When you pass a gap that is the right size the P will appear with an arrow indicating left. Select reverse and the system asks "would you like to auto park" or something similar. Hit OK on your steering wheel and hey presto, the car steers while you use brakes and gas.
Note that it won't work if there aren't two cars to park between!

It's a great tool, I use it every day at the office.

Incidentally, to get the car to look for spaces on the right hand side of the road, you need to turn on your right indicator, the rest of the process is as above.

Neil H - I hope you can help me here.

I have the system on my 2012 S Class and I've not really understood what it should do.

Having read your note, I've just tried it and it all looks good and then and my dash shows the guidance lines although the car doesn't steer the car.

Is there something I'm missing here?

Is there different levels of guidance systems here?

Isn't it only those models with electro hydraulic steering racks that can actually self steer?
