My problems began when someone bumped into my back bumper. The car was taken to a local Body Shop and I was given a nice courtesy car to drive about in. When I went to pick up the car the alarm was going off, then when I switched off the alarm I drove the vehicle 4 ft and the bonnet open warning graphic appeared on the dashboard, then the back passenger door open warning graphic appeared on the dashboard then the battery warning graphic appeared on the dashboard. I must make you aware that the damage to the vehicle during the accident was barely visible so I am quite sure that the issues I am experiencing have been caused by something else after the accident. I have been for 2 seperate diagnostic sessions 1 with MB themselves and another with a local independant specialist. The MB diagnosis pointed to the car requiring a new convenience battery, a new converter for the battery and a new passenger rear door lock and switch. The independant diagnosis pointed to a new convenience battery, a problem with either the passenger rear door lock or the sam unit. Please post any further thoughts you may have on the subject. I look forward to hearing from you. Danny |

How long was the car in the workshop for if you did not have these faults before the car went in, then they could have jump started the car causing some damage.
I do not get the battery bit or the converter bit, the dash lamps would have been on telling you of a fault |

Our Alex had the converter battery replace just after we bought his R,class, long list of faults with the 164 and the 251 with the Back up battery and the switch relay, none of these ring any bells with this chaps fault, rear SAM was a well known fault when the pair of these come out, again, different fault codes, only other thing was the foot well under the n/s front seat filling up with water from the air con drains killing the Central gateway, that makes more sense for this chaps fault!!

hi guys thank you very much for your input and yes the car did display a battery warning graphic after it came out of the workshop which did not appear previously in all the time I owned the vehicle.
