2000 clk320 w208 auto gearbox oil

hi, could anyone tell me what oil to get for my gearbox and how many litres of it i would need, i would be looking a good brand of oil for the gearbox.. ive seen the gearbox filters on ebay starting from £8 would they be any good? thanks fellas

For auto gearbox, I would stick to merc parts for many reasons.

You need to keep everything scrupulously clean when you do it.

Olly charged me £160 to do mine ( couple of years back ) , for that price from an Indy , it's hardly worth dicking about with eBay filters and getting covered in dirt.

It will make a massive improvement to your gear changes though , ill tell you that ! Well worth doing !

i agree , i want to do the job right, my mates a mechanic so i will get an original merc filter for the gearbox, any ideas on where to get original merc parts cheap? cheers

I would buy the transmission fluid from the dealer, it is a fully synthetic oil packaged up with a MB label, so non the wiser regarding the manufacturer.
The filter and sump gasket from Euro, it will be identical [I've examined both]
I think you also need a new seal for the dipstick tube, while your at it I would also buya new g clamp for the sump, because one always strips and it's usually a lead time item.
