What was the purpose of the installation ?

Media player, DVR camera recording, GPS logging, Speed camera notification, local road traffic information (from google maps via bluetooth internet connect), and many more, all on one screen.

Nice. I used to have a mini itx car pc with touchscreen in a previous car. Why dont you just replace the headunit for a motorized flip out touchscreen, would look neater and wont partially block your view.

2005 CL500.
I agree with the flip out suggestion...though I don't think it will obstruct Alex view, just the pic is taken from a low angle.

Because the last one I had flapped around when open and it always ends up blocking buttons etc.

Plus I think I'm the only person who actually likes the original comand system. :)

It is because the image is from a low angle, to show that you can still see the parkatronic screen. In reality it doesn't obstruct the view at all, but I thank you for your concern :)

Thanks!

Not many peiple would go to such lengths to use a computer in their car I think.

Very nice installation - well done.
Makes my rear view camera & monitor install look a bit feeble.

How do you find time (or the effort ) to do these mods ;)

I did consider a car puter once, and looked at all the options. So Im slightly envious when I see yours working like that.

Aside from the cost (1 k some of them) and the hassle, the desire of me using a car pc left when I realised how much hassle pc's can be anyway.
Constant freeze ups, reboots, driver issues and more.
I just couldnt without it flying out the window at some point!

No idea to be fair heh!

It's only because my trade is IT so I had that section covered.

I had most of the hardware already and it's just followed cars with me. The only one I bought for this was the pc itself which is an optiplex 755 usff. Maybe £80 all in (plus screen etc, Web cams etc)

True, regarding the crashing bit, however once the bugs are ironed out, I can go 6 months plus without having a crash or anything.

It can be frustrating getting to that point though!

Funny I meant to mention if it runs 'in a shell' or dos etc.
I guess you could run a linux derivative if the front end will run on it.
I thought I read which you were using but now cant see it.
Ahh centrafuse. So it can ;)
