My C55 runs a little rough especially when cold, which I have desribed elsewhere. I do have a code P2001, and I am just a little curious if this can cause this? I think the code has something to do with the EGR. I have though had this code for a long time with no issues, but can it get worse?

I read the codes yesterday, not on STAR though, and all I got was a P2001. So I´m kind of stuck.

In you translate from swedish it's something like "exhaust reinjection"...

"NOx Trap Efficiency Below Threshold", what does it mean? Can it cause my rough running? Or will it make my car go faster ;-)

I think you are looking at generic definitions for P2001 - you need the MB specific definition to move forward.

It seems like I did not read the whole code. The code says: P2001 "Malfunction of exhaust gas recirculation (functional chain) (P0400)"

P0400 seems to be the EGR, but what do "functional chain" mean? Should I replace the EGR or can it be something else since this chain ;-) is involved?

Thanks for all answers

The EGR valves can stick open, they can be cleaned sometimes, but the spring becomes weaker due to where it sits.

This does not mean a chain as such, more like things joined in the circuit.
A chain of events is a series of events

So, I'm guessing it's best to have it replaced?! If I understand things correctly there also are some hoses connected to it which tend to clog?

Can a faulty EGR have something to do with my rough running?

And when it comes to the chain, I did actually understand that it wasn't a chain as such. My concern is rather if the problem actually is somewhere else in "the chain" than the EGR? (Egnlish ins't always that easy when you don't have it as a first language...)

I know, Swedish is to the point, and English is silly with the many words having more than one meaning. You are doing well with your English, when I was living in Sweden the car parts were very hard for me to learn.

These things are vacuum operated and I see no reason for the pipes to clog.

The valve is only opened at light running (max vacuum at idle) and not under acceleration etc..

I must say that we do not have much on here for problems with the EGR on this engine but they can and do fail just sticking partly open and cause a rough running.

Changed the EGR. It was tight... Runs better but not perfect. Maybe it is the MAF, which I have cleaned twice with the same result: runs a little better but not silky smooth. Still a tad rough but only around 1700 rpms when cold
