...on the way home this evening.

I joined the motorway and moved over to lane three because the other two were occupied and the third was clear...that is until I cleared the van in the second lane to be met with a Golf driven by an old eejit...coming towards me.

I stamped on the brakes and avoided everything and everybody...he, realising his mistake, waved and then did a U turn to face the correct way and proceeded on his way. In the drama I forgot to take his number.

He had just joined the m'way in front of me and turned right not left.

They travel amongst us.

Scary! :shock::shock:

You are very lucky to be telling the story... I was once involved in a 50-60 mph head-on collision with an oncoming car, and the results are horrific to put it mildly.

I think it has been a day of idiots on our roads! Coming home from work earlier i was in the outside lane overtaking two cars when a silver mondeo came flying behind me and just started flashing his lights! Hello where does he expect me to go, I'm passing cars, doing 70 mph I have every right to be where I am!
Maybe the sun is getting to everyone now, our wee country isn't used to temperatures like this!

Must be the sun....
On the M25 twixt junction 20 and 18 this morning. All four lanes carrying heavy traffic, gantry signs showing 60 speed limit and a young woman passes me in lane 3 in a black audi eating a pot of porridge!! She was holding the wheel and the pot in her left hand, occasionally not even holding the wheel, and using a spoon in her right hand. If there had of been an accident it would of been interesting to hear her excuse.

Last night just after 6'ish heavy traffic on the M53 travelling Westwards and where the M56 joins traffic at a crawl, cars taking turns to join the 53, quite polite really, THEN a bleeding great 40 tonner came up the slip road in the safety lane and just kept on going, unbelievable driving by an idiot

T00 right...I find that the hot weather turns some peoples brains to mush. We have a double whammy down here...hot weather and the ones that shouldn't be behind a wheel at any time of the year, pulling out in front of me, bashing my car in the car park and trying to run me over in Tescos car park....ha ha.

the design of motorway slip roads etc, it really baffles me HOW ANYONE can end up going the wrong way on a motorway or round a roundabout the wrong way! i mean, why do they think the slip road joins the motorway at the angle it does? to test your handbrake turns? same with roundabouts! unless you are so dumb you shouldnt be on the road in the first place, how can you POSSIBLY be driving on the correct side of the road, and then end up going the wrong way around a roundabout??? UNLESS its done DELIBERATELY??????? either way, these idiots should be removed from our roads, IMHO

There were some motorway junctions that were very badly designed - take Junction 12 on the M1 that meets the A5120. No traffic island and the slip roads join the A Road at right angles. You can still see the old design on google maps in map view - and the improved layout in street view. I think there were quite a few people caught out on that junction if it was foggy and they missed the no entry signs

Another bad junction is at Hunton Bridge where the M25 and A41 meet, I have seen people mainly old going up the wrong slip road, miss the no entry sign and you are going the wrong way, too may roads and signs, coupled with traffic moving too fast, those that know the junction just blast their horn at anyone who is not quite sure of the road that they should be on. The speed limit should be reduced long before this junction, it is quite terrifying at peak hours.

When he got home, he probably told his wife that the hot weather brings out the worst in drivers - he saw at least 12 cars going the wrong way on the motorway. :rolleyes:

More like, I was travelling on that big road when some clown tried overtaking the 2 lanes going the other way, as if 2 lanes isn't enough for him.

Except it would be in an international tongue.
