Hi

I would like to change the instrument cluster as my original one is fading on the lcd display. If I replace it with the same one will it show my original miles or do I need to get it re-programmed ?

Thanks
Mem

Dont buy a 2nd unit, they cant be re-coded as a rule, Mark might be able to but your standard star wont......

I need one of these repair kits, tried a search, only can find repair service at £100. Would you have a link to a good kit?

Any links to a repair kit for a W203? Mine is also starting to look a bit faded.

The SRS may just need to be cleared on STAR if the ignition was turn on with anything removed

You must have disturbed the rev counter and all you can do is to take it out again to see

Rev counter

I know what I did now! At first I thought I had to remove the needles I slightly tweaked the rev needle then realised nope this isn’t the way then I worked it out fitted the lcd that's when I noticed it after re-resemble and starting up the engine.

Can that needle be removed and re-seated in the idle position ?
I've caused more work for my self

Cheers

The needle will lift off. Noe the end stop is at about 7oclock so re fit the needle at 6 and then just lift the end of the needle over the end stop then it will have a little tension and read better:D

STAR seems to be the suggested solution for most problems. But when posters suggest STAR, they seem to forget that it costs a lot of money to run a STAR check. I know mechanics who can diagnose many faults without it. Maybe because they are top notch?

I have always managed to fix my 203 without paying for a STAR diagonstics, and it's almost 14 yrs old. Touch wood,

Rev Counter with SRS malfungtion

Hi Pathfinder and Televsion.

With all your previous answers on how to fix my LCD on fading thanks again.

Thinking I had to remove the rev counter first to change LCD I tweaked the rev counter very slightly it made a noise like “little plastic ring gear grinding together" that's when I stopped.

I removed the needle and re-positioned which has worked as per instructions from Television. In your opinion might have damaged the rev counter and made it faulty? Or getting the system reset will fix my the issue

As you guys know I am new to all these morden cars what does STAR mean

Regards
