Hi all iv got a 1999 clk320 just had gearbox service by a merc specialist. When I ask if they had drained torque converter of oil they told me it didn't need doing. So have they put nice clean oil in box with dirty oil still in converter.
Cheers

Mercedes just put another 4 litres in to push most of the old fluid out giving a 85% fluid change

Makes you wonder what they know. They are independent merc specialist. £200 for a job that's not done right. Poor show I say. What they hoping for. That I go back with gearbox problems so they take more money off me. For problems they have caused.

Correct, they want to rob you and come back for for. Who are they and where in Staffordshire?

I'm not prepared to say at this time who they are as I will give them chance to do the service again properly FOC. If not then I will name and shame.

You need to ask how much fluid they did use, as MB normally remove the banjo pipe as above to drain the TC

I have never seen any instructions for doing this in WIS

WIS says drain the sump, pour in 4 litres of new fluid, start the car. Stop the car and drain again, remove sump and clean fit new filter and fit a magnet if not fitted.

This gives something like a 87% fluid change.

Detach clamps for right oil cooling line (2) from engine oil pan
Remove banjo bolt (3) from connection (1) on right oil cooling line (2)
Join connection fitting (4) with an approx. 1.5 meter long hose using a hose lamp (5)
Mount banjo bolt (3) and oil cooling line (2) to connection fitting (4)
Hold hose into a bucket with a scale on it .The bucket should have a capacity of 10 liters.
Start the engine and drain transmission oil via the hose into the bucket
Once 3 liters of transmission oil are in the bucket stop the engine immediately
Pour in 3 liters of transmission oil
Repeat flushing procedure twice
