Hello

Can anyone please tell me the causes behind the auto window closure, via the driver's side key not working.

This feature was previously working, via the key but now is not. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

The micro switches in the rear doors seem ok.

Many thanks.

Possible dirty relay contacts in the comfort pack in the boot is the door pin switch single or double contact

Thanks! Could you give me a few extra details I can pass onto the auto electrician?

He has just fitted a new auto watch alarm for me and it would be nice to have to auto closure function working from the remote.

Thanks.

Thanks M.
I presume this is the same for my variant, I have a face lift E200, what was previously known as the TE (wagon).

Could be in the rear side panels or under the rear seat, I will try and check for sure

Thanks. Would this relay also control the aircon?

Thanks. What else is covered by this 'comfort module'?

When I open the door, with no key in the ignition, I am able to close the windows. This to me seems like a comfort feature.

Is the above feature covered by the comfort module?

My car's total closure window feature is still not working. And it's really annoying me.

Is there not a diode up front that activates this in a relay

Not that I can see, where should this diode be?

The auto-closure feature worked previously.

I will do my best to find it,,, the trouble is I cannot remember if this is the one that give you closure with the door open.

If you do a search on the forum this was all covered many moons ago in about 07

I think that the window closure with door open is common to all W124s but it's so long since I had an old car that I can't remember. I think this is fed by a diode but I've never located it

The comfort/convenience relay is under the rear seat and allows the closure of windows & roof with the key in the door when you turn & hold the key. This was a later addition. I have heard that cars with this feature have the chrome strip in the handle - I can't confirm that

These comfort relays are getting unreliable now and can be responsible for all kinds of odd behaviour like sunroof & windows opening & closing on their own. They are also suspect #1 for current drain & a flat battery

Fortunately secondhand replacements are pretty cheap

If the problems come after an alarm has been fitted I'd say they are likely to be related to the way the alarm has been interfaced with the locking circuit

The cars with IR only needed the IR button holding down for the hood and windows to raise.

As a side issue there is an extra clip in the lowering side of the window switch which allows the window to lower all the way with one push, but nothing to raise. Why and is it possible to retro fit something, I like one push lowering, but one push raising would be the ducks nuts....:):)

My old w123 did the 'windows work with a door (might have only been drivers) open/ignition off thing', there was an extra pin switch in the door shut for it. I think this applied to early w124s but not later ones which use the k24 relay* instead of extra switches and diodes. I've heard the same thing about the chrome strip in the door handles denoting auto closure

* confusingly also often known as a comfort/convenience relay, sits right at the back in the middle row of the main fuse & relay box

Only the drivers window has the second detent on mine and IIRC (probably wrongly as it's a been a while) the wiring to it is different? I did investigate briefly as the one touch bit doesn't work but quickly gave up as there was more interesting/important things to do, i hate electrics (****** witchcraft!) and personally i'd only use it rarely like the Dartford tolls for example. I agree, one touch close would be more useful

Slight hijack (sorry ShivaYash) but kinda relevant and along the same lines as one touch window closing... comfort opening on mine only works after you've used it to close and lock the car. From what i've read this is normal? If so kinda annoying in that park up in the evening and lock it normally as you've not got any windows etc open and then when you go it to it the next day and it's hotter than a sauna inside you can't open the windows as you unlock it
