Hi guys, new member - and straight in with a question - sorry.

Have just got my first Merc (an ancient, but very nice C240 Auto estate) having been the owner of many volvos (sorry, that's probably a profanity here)

Anyhow, it has come with just one smart key - as prevention is better than cure it seems to make sense to get another before I lose/break/swallow this one.

Any idea the best way to do this - are the main dealers the only option - or is it something auto electrician specialists can offer?

Any rough idea on price?

And presumably wherever could supply a new one would need the existing one - so any suggestions in the South west?

Appreciate any help you more experienced owners can offer.

A new one from MB in Taunton , you need tour birth certificate, household bill, logbook, passport, birthmark, the car and a bank account that can withstand £225 ;):D

Thought it might be ridiculously expensive - I might just get the emergency key from the fob duplicated and use that to lock/unlock the car - and leave the smart fob under the seat or something - less likely to lose it.

(car cost £525 - so I can probably stand the slightly increased theft risk )

Thought I'd ask though - would hate to spend out a fortune, and then have someone chip in and tell me that 'Bob's Autos' do them for £50 or something

Amazing that 2 keys cost more than the car, Mark a member here can do them a bit cheaper, but not by much

I am also in Taunton with a C240 estate! You can also get a key from Mark at www.ReplacementMercedesKeys.co.uk not sure on price, but presumably better than the dealers.
