Yes the C140 failed its MOT on the front wishbone pin bushes. Now mercedes want some £300+ vat for a complete lower wishbone or £120 per side just for bushes.

Im searching the net looking alternatives as ive spent over a grand on our mercedes this month and this just about takes the biscuit!

Not sure if I should risk these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Control-L...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19df00faf1

Or these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MERCEDES-...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a75b9ecf5

Thoughts please.

difficult one that, Jib. Lemforder are (i believe) OEM, BUT they could take a while from across the pond to arrive! the UK ones are a bit less of a gamble, IMO.

what do places like ECP or GSF stock? and are they as expensive as MB?

the complete lower wishbones were on Ebay at silly money, and OEM as well just surplus stocks

You can get Lemforder on ebay Germany, no risk of import tax and faster delivery. Just ECP too as they usually stock Lemforder parts.

What pees me off though if the bushes are a failure now then surely in a 1000 miles they would have been an issue last MOT!!

Also key fob has fallen apart as the flip key doesnt flip and the headlamp wiper is stuck at the 12 oclock position and all these this were fine before the MOT!

Quick update on the wishbone bush replacement, OSF now done, took a while as I removed all the crap off the wishbone and repainted it, I also removed rust from the inner wheel arch area and painted that followed by waxoyl.

Started today on the NSF wishbone, all going well, after an hour managed to remove both nuts off the wishbone bolts but the bolts will not budge, they are firmly welded inside the bush.

Ive tried the grinder but access is limited, anyone have any other suggestions.

If they are rusted into the bush, then you will need a sabre saw to cut the bolts. I had to do that when I replaced the lower suspension arms on my R129.

Been in the position where I spent several hours using a hacksaw blade, without the handle, sawing away at similar. You get there in the end.

My Coop also failed on emissions!!! the tickover emission was the fail not throttle.
Looking at the emissions sheet they have entered the car as a S500 W221 I wonder if this is why it failed!!!!!!

That must surely make a difference to the emissions threshold permitted......no?
