The low E are good if they do them yet for your car.

The ATE is a new one on me and they should be just fine as are the ones that you do not want to talk about

ATE ceramics popular on the continent. Seen the textarEpads for £45 front and £55 rear

Malcolm, what discs would you go for?

Run the Textar E-pad on the Audi and I would recommend them. Check they are available front and rear for your car. Were only available for the front on the Audi.

See what ECP can do the Pagid for. It is hard to believe that all the disc sold are manufactured by the ones with a name on them, I am sure that badge engineering is involved.

That is cheap for the pads and very good, once all the makers get on the band wagon the price could be such that the car makers will fit ceramic pads as standard soon, it is a well proven fact that the disc last longer as the makers of all point out.

Malcolm, Badge engineering

I remember as a child how the motoring press slated MG/Austin Rover for badge engineering and blank buttons on the dash. Now overlooked on BMW and VW products 20 years later???

It has to go on today, there must be 10 different makes out there and for what they cost is too little for short runs.

The stopping power with these things is a very important part, yes all modern brakes are good, but just so much better when you push the pedal and the car wants to stop with very little effort, longer disc life into the bargain cannot be bad either :D

You will notice the sheer quality of the kit supplied..
You get all shims and even the wear sensors.. In my opinion they really are a cut above the rest..
Not OEM..
BETTER THAN OEM !!

Better than OEM, absolute rubbish. I've spoken with a few specialists who deal with this sort of thing for a living and say they've tried EBC blah blah and keep saying for a road car driving on the road OEM > all other alternatives. If you plan to track the car then you need to look at different pads and discs.

For keeping dust low, you need to clean the alloy wheel and wax it, this will keep the dust from sticking to it.

This debate will never end but have a think on this: We all know how our car drives so we can assess if parts are better (or worse) when we fit them. Fit new pads - wow, the brakes are better! The problem is, we can't compare pads properly this way. To test properly we'd need two sets of new pads and consistent test conditions

New pads always feel better than old ones - it doesn't matter what they are, they feel better. The pedal response is different, so we tend to regard it as better, because we are expecting better. The pedal may move up, so we think the brakes are better

If you fit aftermarket pads with more bite you may think the brakes are better. If you tested them against the manufacturer's pads, under all types of conditions, you might think they're worse. But we associate that initial bite with "better"

When you brake in a car you gauge the initial retardation by the amount of dive at the front of the car. You cant "see" the rate of retardation so you judge it by the seat of the pants. In a soft car like a W124 it's easy to gauge. But if you have pads with lots of bite, and limited ability to modulate the braking effort, driving a soft car become very wearing as the nose of the car dips & lifts. If you drive like a hooligan you probably think this is "better". If you drive to be smooth you probably think it's worse

For these reasons, and hundreds more, there will never be agreement on brakes. Lots of people pronounce on them from a position of ignorance, which doesn't help, and others base their opinions on one or two experiences. Until you can test properly, and understand what you are testing, I don't think any one opinion should be held as being "right"
