The approximate shade of some of these colors can be seen at http://www.landiss.com/560paint.htm. Who wants to help match up the German and English color names?

Also worth knowing is external paint codes are suffixed by U and internal trim codes by A

Search EPC for 744 and you get dark blue soft top fabric. Search for 744U you get brilliant silver metallic.
Look for 221 you get Left front seat electrically adjusted, 221A and get leather black/anthracite. Interestingly it doesn't give paint dark green!

This would suggest the codes change over time?

A Jag. Jags are my favourite.
Thanks for posting that. I've got to order some paint tomorrow so it was useful to be able to double check I'd got the right colour.

I used a Russian Mercedes VIN decoder which quoted the paint code, which confirmed I'd got the correct one off the sticker on the car.

Still makes me smile when reading your datacard that you have a dark blue soft top fabric!!

My friends 52 plate ML320CDI had the exact same option, MB tried to explain why it was, did,nt really understand but it seemed to be a well known "glitch" with the EPC. I have a similar spurious option code on my C43/55 as it shows it has heated washer bottle which it has,nt got and never had.

The database is only as accurate as the data entered. A transcription error can occur any time humans are involved!

Yes the Ruskie site was the only one to get my SL500 right, and one must bare in mind that its all MB data and not Ruskie. The new data base still shows 2 differences and they will never get corrected now.

I must try the CL out on all of them, maybe there are some more goodies that I do not know of :D

I stumbled across a German website with paint codes and pictures for older models. Maybe of interest.

Does anybody know the BS no., or German equivalent, for the blue colour used in the MB oak/laurel leaf bonnet badge/wheel centres?

Thanks

Mic

I do not think that you will find one Mic, they are not items that can be or were painted

Well this is the question I sent to MB Customer services:

Good Morning

I am minded to get the callipers of my SL500 painted the same colour blue as the blue in the oak/laurel leaf bonnet badge/wheel centres. Do you have a BS no. or similarly defining code for that particular blue please?

Thank you for your help.

Mic

And this is the response:

Thank you for contacting the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center Maastricht N.V.

In response to your recent email communication, we can confirm that the colour is 330, however, we only sell this colour as a touch up pen and not in a spray paint.

They did not provide a BS no. nor a RAL nor a ''whatever'' but it is a start.

Mic

I'm a bit confused.......

My vin hasn't got any paint codes by it.....

The V5 says the car is silver, but it looks more like light gold.

Here's the VIN in case anyone can help throw some light on this for me - I'd be most grateful

Thanks guys

Look for it on the plate inf front of the Radiator - see 189 on my plate - check same position for number, unless they have changed plate style.
