This is a very good idea. My only comments having just checked out a few names on there is that the rating system could do with enhancing. For example, an entry can be rated 5 stars but it does not say how many people have graded it 5 stars. Equally the rating needs to be much clearer; it would be much more accurate to show the full range of gradings received i.e five ***** zero **** two *** zero ** one * all shown in a simple tabular form of course. Naturally I would expect those garages concerned to be given a fair chance of confirming rating are from genuine customers - just like the recommended trader websites.

Those are not complaints as it is a very useful start, they are meant to be helpful:)

Interesting.. I used the Contact form for 4 of the mentioned indies ..only 1 bothered to reply .... Needless to say he got the job... What n earth is it with people who can't be bothered responding?

In my line of work I often find that Independents use Email very rarely but answer the phone, with their head in a bonnet. Its the nature of a small indi, but agree, 1 out of 4 is poor.

Firstly thanks for recent feedback from members.

Updates have now been made on the site to record on the back end system comments by members on specialists listed on the site (via the Customer rating tab).

This allows users to rate a company that now shows 5***** 4**** 3*** 2** 1* asks for your name and email address which is not published but used for back end checks.

In addition the amount of ratings are also listed.

Below this is a new box

Comment:

This box allows users to comment on the specialist / service (also not to be published) but can be used by admin as an advisory tool to other members and to notify companies of their feedback (once again users name / email will not be given)

We feel that this gives users, additional ability to advise on recommendation and link feedback to others and to companies.


Below the new comment: box is an area called
Contact
Your message:

Below is a box which includes a number of important details for companies to take on your car, by completing these fields, and including your question in the box, input your name, email address in and press post, an email will be sent to the company you are viewing. Which we hope a response will be received soon.

If no message box is shown this is because the site does not hold the email address for the company or they do not have an email address.

ONCE AGAIN - the more users rate / comment the better the site will be for all.

In April / May 2013 I will begin an extensive promotional campaign on this site and our next printed directory which we hope will see more companies partner with this site and our forum to provide more information than Basic Entries for our users.

I hope that these changes although small will make the site a more dynamic site to use, as always feedback is welcome.

New updates to the directory have been made, might find new specialists in your area?

For those Printed MBO members the A5 Printed directory will be sent out to you in the August issue of Mercedes Owner magazine full of useful content. :)

I have just tried to post a recommendation for M.B.S. following their excellent service recently. Unfortunately the system will not allow me to post it as I have already posted one in the past. It states ' You have already submitted your rating for this company.' If the database is to remain up to date/accurate I think members should be able to repost/update their postings to reflect the latest service received. Naturally I apprceiate that you need to stop people block/mass voting to falsely rate a company.

interesting point, but I believe the restriction in multiple feedbacks is limited to 1 member per company which is designed to, as you stated "stop people block/mass voting to falsely rate a company".
I have seen a different rating system that I am looking into which might be more appropriate and specific to variety of points ie: Quality of Service, politeness, cleanliness, easy of communication etc, which I am looking into.

If you have an additional feedback for Colin for the time being please post on this thread your feedback, which I will add to the back end system for them, which will help with member feedback or PM me if you wish to keep this private.

Hi Mark,

I have only had my first MB for a couple of weeks and it had just had a service before then so I have another 11 months or so before the next service, so I cannot comment yet on servicing etc. But I must say I am very impressed with the amount of work and effort that you are putting into this and the feedback from the other members.

Further developments to the website are being investigated at the moment. We are looking to develop a mechanism for visitors to book servicing / MOT's + potentially other services directly with the companies listed on the site, to work in tandem with their own booking system.

This will be a useful addition to the site, and show transparency for the companies listed.
