Hi All,

Im new to this so please bear with me. Mercedes W203 2001 C180 Classic

Recently the cooling fan came on when the car was started and comes on every time the car is started and doesn't stop till its switched off.

I have had the car checked by a garage and they changed the fan & the fan sensor however this was not the problem. A Mercedes specialist came out and advised it was the 'refrigeration sensor' which needed to be checked. Another MSpecialist checked the car and told me it needs a AC regas.

Can any advise on this ?

Many thanks

ALL fuses checked (BOTH engine bay boxes)?

Fan control unit, faulty AC sensor, ECU lack of voltage...

Why Malcolm?

Oil is not conductive in any way, take a speed plate with all the tracks have gearbox fluid flowing over over them

On a 203 this fan is part of the aircon, I am sure that it uses a relay to hold the fan off, I am trying to find some more details.

The 203 cooling fan runs from PWM from the engine ECU, the PWM wires is different from the engine loom..........

Hi All,

Took the Merc to Wayne Gates in Harrow and ran a diagnostics. Turns out it was the temp sensor. So it has been changed now. I was quite annoyed that most garages I took the car to didn't know this.

Anyway thanks for the advise.
