Used to have a C63...
Regular schlep in my CLS 320 CDI this week, gave 196 miles, 76mph, 45.0 (indicated) on the trip computer.

Had more traffic coming coming back, dropped to 43.something!

A good 3000 of that is round town/short journeys under 10miles. According to fuel receipts it's 39.7mpg so overall it's not too far out. The single journey average on the dash though is always way out by about 6mpg on a long run.

Just back from a European road trip of just under 3000 miles, with combination of motorways and inner city driving, never went over 80 mph, car returned 34 mpg

Yeah but think of the fun and aural pleasure you get. There has to be a trade off somewhere. ;)

Simon, we don't buy these V8's for fuel economy, but for fun driving.
I have a feeling my average MPG may be even lower than yours;-)

It's True.

The V8 MPG may be lower but in all honesty the average milage driver of a V8 probably spends an extra 10 to 15 pounds a week on Petrol.

Smile on face owning and driving a V8, Priceless !! :)

Very true. Getting 21.5 MPG on my commute (traffic lights kill it) with my SL55.

Can't stop smiling.

This was today. Would have been better had I not got stuck in start stop traffic because people can't modulate their throttle to maintain speed!

I brimmed before I started and did it again when I finished. Fuel receipts worked it out at 48.61mpg. So the dash computer isn't too far out on a long run.

Computer says over the past 14k miles and 300+ hours of driving that it has averaged 24.7, and I would be inclined to agree seeing as I get around 360-400 miles to £100

Round town normally around 16-18, but on a long journey with cruise set @ 70 and a steady drive I can see nearly 30mpg (29.something) including a bit of traffic and a few stop offs.

My driving is split between around 75% A roads and motorways and the rest journeys around town or in traffic. I commute to work two or three times a week and to be honest rarely go over 65, today when I went shooting I did a steady 58 mph following a wagon all of the way there. I find floating along at around 60 mph with a nicely chilled out soundtrack on, cruise locked in and hardly any input from me the best way to travel :)

I occasionally blow the cobwebs out of her on a Friday run home, depends how I am feeling and if I think she needs it or not.

That's basically word-for-word how I feel about my SL55 :)

Absolutely 0 traffic, it was to Orpington so 50/40 roads all the way to destination. Same on the way back, m25/m3/a316.

When there is no traffic it's a dream!

I'm finding that my speedo and therefore my mileage is about 4% high, can it be recalibrated with Star?

The best I can get on a run ( well probably not the best actually as I can't keep my right foot still :) is around 31.5 mpg on the display and averaging about 24 mpg which I am more than happy with.
