Yet another problem , I just discovered this morning that if you pull on the drivers door handle when the car is locked one pull pops the button and the second pull opens the door and the alarm goes off . I'm sure I saw a post on here with a similar problem but now of course I can't find it . Any help greatly appreciated , I will get this car sorted to my satisfaction soon.

The mechanism for the emergency lock will be in the wrong position.
Remove the lock and look inside, you will see a pin on the bottom of the lock that lines up with a hole. This just needs moving round to the right position.
Sounds confusing but makes sense once you get it in bits

Thanks for the reply , you make it sound very simple I assume I need to remove the door card and are you referring to the latching part of the lock or the door handle part?

No need to remove the door card.
Its the lock next to the handle that needs to come out.
If you are looking at the handle open the door and move to the left, on the side of the door near to the catch there is a small rubber grommet, pull tag out and you will see a T20 screw. Undo the screw, it doesn't need to come all the way out.
The lock will feel loose. Inside the hole there is also a little catch that needs flicking down to release the lock.

Hope this helps

Hi andrew, it was me who put up the post with the same problem as you. I haven't fixed mine yet, but with the information you have been given I am going to give it a go. Will let you know how I get on.

Hi Chris & Sue I haven't tackled the job yet as you need a long screwdriver to reach the screw , the handle on mine fouled the door so I couldn't line up with the screw. I ordered a set of long ones on ebay for under £12 should be here in a couple of days.

I had the same problem, as you say you cant get the right angle as the handle hits the door trim. I will get a longer one. I had a look but couldn't see the little catch you have to move. Let me know how you get on. Thanks Chris.

Screwdrivers arrived this morning, nice and long , can now reach the screw. I slackened the screw right off and the handle moves a little but I can't see or feel this catch which is supposed to release it . I've given up for now will try again later.

Mark I can't find this catch to release the lock is it inside the door or under the lock ? I'm sure to you its obvious with your experience but the rest of us need to be pointed in the right direction . Your help would be greatly appreciated

As Mark has tried to explain, the emergency key does indeed just turn and turn. There is, however, one point on that turn where it lines up a lever, and when you pull out the door handle in that position it will pop up the lock button.

Andrew, did you get any further with this, I have loosened the screw but don't want to take it right out as I don't know what parts will fall inside the door. Cant see any way of removing the handle.

Hi Chris I still can't find this catch , I've undone the screw completely but left it in place and the lock moves a bit but I'm blowed if I can see how to remove it. I'm taking the car to my local indie to get a new key programmed so I'm thinking I'll ask them to have a look, if I can get any more info I'll post it on here. Why is nothing ever easy!

Thanks Andrew, I expect somebody who knew what they were doing would do this in about 2 minutes, and make us look like fools:p

Chris Just had a post on a different thread about the same problem , the lever to be flicked down is in the same hole as the torx screw if you get a torch and look through the hole in the door you can see the white plastic catch. I haven't tried it yet as I have to go out but I will have a go later. I just hope that is it .

That's it problem half solved got the lock off the door and can see the problem the emergency key is not turning the spigot on the inside and it was stuck in the unlock position , I managed to wiggle it round through 90 degrees so it now lines up but the key won't turn it . So if the remote stops working I will be in trouble. If anyone knows how to fix the lock I'd appreciate any info.

Well done Andrew, do you have to take the screw right out? and if your looking at the screw as a clock face what position is the catch? Thanks for your help.
